COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

10.4% ABV? I’ll BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR! Unfortunately this cost more. What a tragedy, particularly in these economically stressed times when a 30 pack of Hamm’s Special Light can be had for under $12! Think about it! Overall I would say meh or bah, or not. Roll with the Blatz, or Hamm’s and I daresay your liver AND wallet will thank me in the morning....

Bottle from AEON liquors in Asagaya. Pours a clear copper with a finger of beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Honey, booze and earthy resinous hops in the nose. Bitter on the palate with toasted caramel, bread and a lingering resinous bitterness. Slightly warming finish as well.

2016 bottle, a few months old when consumed. Pours golden amber with a 1" white head. Nose is caramel, floral pine, very nice. Taste is fantastic! Smooth yet hoppy. This is a great beer that goes down dangerously smooth for 10%+ ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a hazy copper-amber color with a very large, foamy, off-white head with long retention, and very good cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a strong blend of hops notes, featuring pine above all, and a mixture of grain, resin, floral, and some lighter fruity notes. It had an aggressively-hopped taste with a strong bitter pine effect, along with some floral and grainy notes, and a very light sour effect, with a modest presence of alcohol. The beer had a thick and full mouthfeel with a somewhat lively body with good carbonation and a dry finish. Intense, but good and flavorful.

Sample at Boulevardia 2016. Comes golden red with a decent white head. Aroma of pine, malt, and citrus. Taste is pine, floral, malt, and citrus. Excellent.

Pours a clear coppery orange with a thick creamy off white head. Light carbonation and plenty of lacing. Aroma had notes of caramel and malts. Thick syrupy texture. Fairly bitter but not harsh. Somewhat dry. big warm alcohol finish with a hop bite. Not as enjoyable as I had hoped for.

Bottle from Bradleys. Clear amber pour with little head. Citrus hop aroma with pine and grass. Really bitter pine that lasts and lasts. Not toomuch malt for the style. Nice.

Wow, this is one heavyweight Double IPA. Very calm head and huge floral aroma. Dense and syrupy on the palate. Not as astringent as say Torpedo IPA but it is much more bitter. The malts help with the complexity. I get caramel with fruity esters. Then a huge piney resiny hops blast....lingers on. Splendid.

Pours a deep amber. Rich, concentrated hop aroma. Funky, but almost bad funky. Very silky mouthfeel. You can tell its high gravity but doesn't have the hot boozy bite I was expecting. A decent beer but not all that well balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
