COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Sampled at SBWF. Stockholm, September 29th, 2011.
Aroma is very hoppy with fresh notes of citrus and grapefruit, but also a wired soap note. Luckily it’s not present in the taste which in return is very nice and creamy. Big hop character with loads of grape and pine needles. A it on the sweet side but nevertheless an impressive DIPA.

Bottle split with EC. Clear, golden-amber body with a 1/2", thick, dense white head. Bubbles pearl up from the bottom of the glass. Nice lacing. Aroma of mango, gooseberry, and light citrus. Fairly prominent aromas, but not overpowering. Tropical fruit flavors, some white berry. Grapefruit comes through - malt is buried somewhere beneath all the hops. Fairly full body with a highly resinous mouthfeel. Medium-high carbonation with a moderate alcohol presence. Sticky, resinous finish with long lasting grapefruit peel. Very good, beer!

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed Saturday 22.10.11 Jan brought this beer along, cheers Jan! Big beer, bit sticky with a huge hoppy frontal blast. However as nice as it is, it’s a little too sweet there is a cloying sweetness, bit too much at times. Despite all of this, I actually loved it. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Beer land trilussa. DIPA troppo sciapa e inodore, del luppolo abbiamo solo un vago ricordo.

Bottled@SBWF2011. Goldeny amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and some mild caramel as well. Flavour is caramel malts, fruity, floral and grassy hops along with some slight earthyness. Hides the abv rather well, and is very pleasantly balanced.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy pale amber, small head. Roch aroma where caramel meets grapefruit and resin. Sweet and full bodied. Dominated by sticky caramel, hops die out but still provide resiny bitterness. OK, no more.

Ported from BA. Poured from a bomber into a mason jar. Re-poured when there was room. Appearance: Orange, as imperial IPAs tend to be. Nothing new in terms of color. Then again, show me a color I’ve never seen before and I’ll probably die of shock. Clear with a few bubbles. About a finger of head, but I generally try to prevent too much from forming when I pour an IPA. Smell: Lots of hoppyness and citrus. A tad sweet smelling, but not overly so. Pure and clean. Taste: Hops in the foreground, hops in the background. Fresh and tasty too. A citrusy zest accompanies. Malt undertones show up later on, just before the bitterness sets in. Hop forward, but manages to taste well-balanced. Mouthfeel: Pretty full-bodied as far as IPAs go. Sharp and crisp too, with the alcohol peeling itself off your tongue afterwards. Drinkability: Well, I drank a bomber no problem. In a night, I would probably be able to get through 2 of them easily, except for the price tag. It tastes very fresh and I’m sure it makes it’s presence known in the DIPA world.

Bottle 71cl. A clear amber colour with a small white beige head. An aroma of malt, hops and citrus. The taste is sweet and light bitter. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a long bitter finish.
