COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Out of the bottle, nice copper/orange color, quite floral with pine and grapefruit. Pretty good, bottle was a couple months old, some hop presence may have dissipated. The beer puns never stop. How many words can be made with the word ’hop’? Only time will tell.

This is probably the best damn smelling beer I've ever had. I'd get this as a car freshener. I expected more of a punch on the first drink, but it's mellower than the aroma. Excellent callobo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into Dogfish IPA glass; translucent copper with a sudsy one-finger head (drops to a light topper of creamy foam. Big citrus (grapefruit) aromas from the intense hops with sweet resinous back notes. Medium carbonation and a rich mouthfeel guide the smooth superbly balanced brew down the palate. The malts are the perfect counterpoint with just enough burnt sugary notes. A stellar brew; undoubtedly the best I've had from Sierra. Thank you sir, may I have another? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a Bruno’s 4 pack....pours a clear orange with thin head...some lacing. Hops....pine and grapefruit (my favorites) dominate the nose and the initial tastes....some malt presence smooths the middle....good bitterness at the end. Very tasty.

Picked a 4 pack up from the local grocery store. Very smooth for a triple IPA. Would drink again.

I am not sure how on earth this ranks as Sierra Nevada’s second best beer (as of July 2014) but it is a pretty decent IIPA as far as IIPAs go. This pours a nice golden orange color, clear w/ a ring of fine bubbles for a head. This is very focused on tropical fruit and pine flavors from the hops. It is a bit sweet, maybe slightly sticky, full bodied but still relatively drinkable. As it warms, a strong mandarin orange character develops and it gets quite juicy and thick but not unpleasantly so. It finishes w/ a bit of sweetness, solid bitterness and just a bit of alcohol burn. I grew to like this more and more over the course of the glass. It is definitely a good beer to take some time w/.

Bouteille 355ml. Couleur orangée trouble, mousse beige crémeuse. Arôme de houblon résineux, agrumes, citron, alcool, malt. Goût d’agrumes, beaucoup d’alcool, houblon, sucré, malt caramel, longue amertume. Carbonatation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen-dense.

Great balanced beer!!!Amber color ,medium off-white head. Aroma of pine ,mango, caramel malt and citrus. Floral , fruity taste with malted sweetness in begining , which balanced by strong hoppy bitterness in finish. Long bitter aftertaste. Fantastic balans.

Tepid orange pour looks heavy, fresh from the tap. Peach schnapps, caramel, and soft cantaloupe are the main notes in the misty, perfumed haze of an aroma. It is obviously alcoholic but the way it maintains its floral, fruity softness is surprising.

Bubblegum, flowers, honeydew melon; lots of melon. It’s juicy but more accurately very oily. Its sweetness is reminiscent of angel food cake, and almond frosting; the clean softness of these notes is pleasing.

Heavy palate with soft bubbles. While alcoholic and decidedly sweet throughout, it is never cloying. It is slick and wet - certainly too much alcohol for my taste - but I dislike this less than is usual. There is an impressionistic quality to the hop and malt tones that’s aesthetically nice.
