A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Appearance: very clear average gold color, some amber hues, pours with a very large beige head, nice density Aroma: grass, pine, strong resin like smell, citrus, spice, flowers, lemon, egg, incredibly complex, incredibly aromatic Taste: bitter, spicy, hoppy, alcohol, citrus, Palate: average carbonation, very bitter aftertaste, medium mouthfeel Overall: holy cow what a beer, so incredibly bitter throughout, makes Stone seem tame, very complex and in your face aroma, alcohol is definitely obvious in the taste and the only reason to dock it IMO, not sessionable at all but you need to experience this sometimes just to see the boundaries of ipa’s being pushed

Pours amber with little head and minimum lacing. Not a good start, huh? Well the aroma turns it the other way around. Extremely hoppy, which goes for the taste as well. The taste is very full and strong bitterness stays there from the beggining to the end. Great beer!

I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish with a white head. Taste sweet, citrus, pine. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Backlog rating 8-14-2012 (Bottle) This beer has a medium sized off-white head with a long retention, slightly hazy golden body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and has spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, pine hops, hint of grapefruit, wheat. The flavor is heavily bitter, sweet malt pine hops, grapefruit, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is aggressive and this beer is medium bodied. This beer has a lingering bitter aftertaste and is a beer for hopheads. This beer is too hoppy tasting for me, but is worth trying.

Bottiglia 33cl, ordinata su birraland è bevuta a casa. Piuttosto morbida come corpo, poco carbonata. Amarezza eterna e complessa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2014 Pours crystall golden, with medium head, hoppy fragrance, not too strong, not too weak. Taste has a lot of body. Strong feeling with a starting sweetness, that is very well followed by the bitter finish. Thos is one hell of a beer! The moderate carbonation and strong hops make you very "burpy" though. :)

Pours Amber with a decent head. Citrus aroma with caramel notes. It is on the sweet side and not as balanced as some other DIPAs. Overall, it is still very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz. bomber purchased at Shady McGrady’s and poured into a snifter. Thanks to my buddy bones for purchasing this one for us to try.

A - Pours deep amber orange with a thin film of white head, dissipating down to tiny spots of head, leaving light rings of lacing down the glass.

S - Still pretty smokey in this place so this could have been a little bit better I am sure. Plenty of grassy hops, rich caramel malts, and some dulled tropical fruits. A touch too sweet for my liking, almost smells like hoppy syrup.

T - A good amount of grassy citric hops up front mix well with the caramel malt sweetness and some light grapefruit acidity. Finish is sticky sweet with plenty of lingering hop bitterness. A touch hot once it warmed up a bit. Pretty good but not the best.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Pretty heavy in the feel, almost syrup like. Tons of hop bite in the finish with a good bit of it lingering for some time.

D - Decent stuff. I liked it but I could really only have one glass. The combination of the higher ABV. and the sticky sweet feel really got to me. Still a good beer tho.

Pours from 12oz bottle a hazy copper/amber with a large foamy white head that leaves some clumpy lacing and holds an island of foamy ring. Aroma is rich citrusy hops, pine needles, grapefruit juice, chewy caramel, spicy hops and sweet malt. The flavour immediately brings a bitter rush pervades the mouth upon first sip, with citrus of mango and pineapple really strong, along with a bit of peach. Malt comes in late, with some honey sweetness to balance the hops, but really this beer is all about the hops and pine. Pretty solid double.
