COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

After letting the bottle warm up slightly I cracked the top and I could immediately smell the hops. I started pouring and the smell got stronger and more complex until I couldn’t take it any more and buried my nose into the glass and took a big whiff. Oh my god, heavenly, intense floral, citrusy, resin and a background of cedar. The beer pours very nicely with a beautiful creamy head that lasts for ages and looks as comfortable as an ample bosom. With the contrast against the intense dark amber, the delicate lace left behind on the sides of the glass serves as a reminder of the wonderful ale that used to be there. The flavours are amazing, and the hop profile… out of this world! Its dry, sticky, spicy and fruity, almost like drinking a Christmas fruitcake, leaving that lovely hop resin coating your mouth. The body is creamy and smooth with the alcohol content being very well masked, except for a subtle ‘warming spirit glow’ at the very end which is quite pleasant. The after taste is quite remarkable. Apart from the already mentioned ‘warming spirit glow’ it also leaves spicy, dry and piney notes on the tongue which encourage you to have the next sip.

Slightly hazy orange color with a thin, persistent head. Aroma is sweet floral, flavor adds some pine resin with a delightful bitter sweet aftertaste. Really good, probably my favorite Sierra Nevada brew.

It’s big, it’s hoppy, it’s bitter, it’s...a dank Pacific Coast Double IPAAAAA!

This has everything a Torpedo has, but just more of it. It is stronger, it is darker and it feels like 10 times more bitterness. I just love it. It is like a dream drinking it:)

Bronze pour with abundant white head. Aroma is piney with an alcohol presence. Flavor is candied fruit and pine, alcohol still present.

Near perfect Imperial IPA, amber body with creamy off-white head., adequate sticky lacing. aroma of soft citrus, piney hops. Taste is mildly astringent pine forest and grapefruit. Soft hoppy finish lingers. Wow!

Pours hazy reddish gold with thick white head. Huge piney hops on the nose - resin and spruce - big citrus notes too and a little bit of woody spice. The taste explodes with pine and citrus - massive oily hop flavors. Really good level of bitterness in this one, oily pine resin coats the mouth. Some blood orange and spice too. A bit of maltiness balances the huge hop bill. Booze warmth is right up front, along with a lingering warmth in the throat. Medium/full body. Hop character lingers for ages. This is one big, big DIPA. Great stuff.

Pours a dark gold with almost no head. Nose of pine, some citrus. Taste of grapefruit, caramel, and finishes with some bitterness and a touch of alcohol. Reminds me of Dogfish Head 90 - although not quite as good. Still, very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy amber colour. Medium white head with good retention. Lovely pine/resin aroma. Strong grapefruit character with nice caramel undertones. Oily body, not ’thick’, but coats the palate. Alcohol warmth adds vibrancy to the taste. A very strong bitterness lingers in the finish. Great IIPA.
