A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

ASPETTO: ambrato splendente.

Aroma and taste is standard ipa . Less fruity and more dry. From the body is think this was 6-7%. Easy to drink and heavy bitterness and dryness which lingers for a long time.

Too much for me. I found the aroma and flavour to be confused, almost muddy. An example of more not necessarily being better. Bitterness was good and in balance with the body but flavour was disappointing.

Blonde cuivrée translucide. Fin collet blanc. Nez intense de houblon, surtout résineux. Sapin. Agrume. Fruits tropicaux. Malt caramel. Bouche: riche. Bien ronde en bouche. Malté/caramel léger. Bonne amertume. Zeste d’agrume. Très houblonné. Sèche. Très résineuse. Parfait pour un "hop head" comme moi.

Again, at the great Mas Plenum stand @Vinocom. Amber body. The aroma was, slightly disappointingly, more malty than hoppy for me, a full malty blast, even a touch grainy, mingling with some fruity hoppy notes - which aren’t excessive. Dry, bitter herbal hoppy taste, with notes of orange, well balanced with a solid maltiness. Didn’t get it at first, but it won me over, unexpectedly, in the finish, dry, juicy, spicy, lovely, with a fine bitterness, and light gummy notes. Damn good stuff, without ANY doubt, that I’d gladly have again.

Bottle from systembolaget. Aroma is heavy hops with some citrus and flowers. Pours orange with a medium white head. Taste is strong and more malty than a DIPA traditionally is. Palate is oily. Overall an okay beer, but not one of the better DIPA:s.
