COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle pour into goblet. Aroma is caramel with floral notes, Color is amber/orange-red. Pours clear with a minimal head of tan foam. Taste has a medium sweetness and is very bitter, with a bit of a a salty aftertaste. Texture is creamy going down, leaving a slick feel on the tongue. The finish is quite long and bitter. Overall this beer delivers on its promise both with the hops and the alcohol, the latter of which is not overpowering to the taste but you will notice the effect of almost immediately.

12 oz bottle from fridge. Served in pint glass. Three finger white frosty head. Decent lacing. Beer is golden amber in color. Hoppy aroma with notes pine and grass. Taste is strong bitter with stong notes of pine, citrus rinds and earth. Average carbonation. Thick texture. Good beer but seems a bit overkilled on the hops.

35,5cl bottle (2014 vintage) at Beach Club, Oslo. Pours clear amber with off-white head. Hoppy aroma with pine, spices, caramel and malt. Sweet hop juice with a certain bitterness. No longer so fresh, but tasty and quite balanced. Would like to try a fresh one, this is more like American barley wine, but still nice.

2015 vintage: Poured from 12oz bottle into Bell’s snifter; listening to slate culture gabfest and playing video games, uncertain abt future. Aroma: grapefruit, pine tar, very strong. Appearance: years-old penny copper, strong head fading to white ring, some lacing. Taste: strong and immediate hop wall, followed by subtle malt presence. Long astringent aftertaste from the hops. A little boozy on the finish. Palate: thick, billowing mouthfeel dissipates very quickly. Overall, a very nice double with a distinctly west coast feel. >A really nice red sunset

Bottle to glass, amber appearance with thick head. The embodiment of grapefruit hop aroma. Caramel sweetness but less than you would expect for the ABV. Really delicious, full bodied with a mutlifaceted hop finish lasting over 10 minutes. This one will easily spoil any hop-head. Close to perfect.

Clear orange appearance, medium head. Heavily hoppy - citrus and grapefruit notes, malty, caramel flavor, bitter, rich and rounded. Good imperial IPA.

Pours a gorgeous orange with a thick, frothy head. Smell is full of malt, with great citrus fruits lingering. Lots of lemon, grapefruit, pine and simple hop. First sip is sweet on the tongue, syrupy in feel. Very sweet but it really dries out. Extreme hop with a resinous coating. There is a surprising lack of booze in the big imperial, but I really enjoy that it is so very drinkable! This is a tasty summer treat for all the hop heads out there. Enjoy

When is a Hop Bomb not a Hop Bomb? Subtle hops band together into a green citrus and pine hop wall. Golden, full bodied Imperial IPA. Leaves you satisfied, and only reinforces my faith in Sierra Nevada making first quality hoppy beers.

Wow. Tasty. Hop nose and it follows. Strong alcohol taste hiding there behind the hop burst. Sweet at first but that wore off quickly. Would definitely do again.
