A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous Ďnew-schoolí and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit Ė all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

An excellent hop beer. Has a slight sweet long finish and not much bitter hop flavor. Red amber color with a sweet hop aroma. A hop heavy beer that isnít over bearing with the bitter hop flavors.

A fantastic IPA. Extremely strong flavor with a nice bitterness, cannot taste any citrus notes. Has a malty taste ending with a strong bitterness. Overall a great IPA!

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass..golden orange pour with thin white head..huge hop aroma, along with grapefruit,pine..tastes like it smells..but with sticky mouth feel..finishes dry..bitter like a DIPA should be.

I picked up a 4 pack at the Capitol beer and tap room in Sac. The moment I opened it the aroma hit me with a fruity smell. It had a slightly sweet taste throughout but had enough bitterness to even it out. Could definitely taste the variety of fruits, and it finished nicely. Itís a big beer and has a thick body , but overall itís a very smooth beer and Iím glad I have three left!

I have been searching for a while for this one and finally got myself a 4 pack. I was very worried going into it that the hype was so big and that it would suck royally. Well thankfully thatís not the case. I let this one warm up to room temp and was very patient. Gave it a nice swirl in my snifter and just got whiplash from the wonderful tropical fruit. Passion fruit and pineapple hit me. Then some soft fruits as well. Banana, mango papaya it was all there. Just a brilliant aroma. Then the taste. Bam. right at the first sip intense hop bitterness followed by the sweet but not too sweet malt backbone. The tropical fruit felt thick and rich and the 10.4% abv not noticeable at all. I really took my time on this one to savor and enjoy it. Just a really really wonderful Imperial IPA and definitely did not disappoint.

Absolutely the best hop explosion for the money. The sweet malts help even out the IBUs. You get that classic piney resin with some citrus lemon, grapefruit, and orange tones. This is Sierra Nevada at its best!

Pours a beautiful orange yellow from bottle. Big head. Lots of bubbles. Pine resin and citrus aroma. Sweet malts and juicy hops. Not overpowered. Quite good.

Amber, two finger white head, nice lacing. Fairly resinous nose, pine, floral earthiness, light citrus. Flavor is astringent, big bitterness, a lot of resin, some pine and a touch of grapefruit and orange. A bit of alcohol on the palate. Meh.

I canít believe I hadnít tried this one before. Amber body, nice head and lacing, quite attractive. Hoppy and bitter with also with a really nice sweet almost Belgian candy element to balance it off. A pretty awesome double ipa.
