COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle, 2012. Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Smells fruity, of citrus and pineapple. Tastes sweet, bitter, and hoppy. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Starts to feel like it’ll be cloying, but tapers off to a dry hoppy finish. Pleasant, but somewhat difficult to drink in large quantities.

Pours cloudy orange with a tall, yellow-white head. Unexpectedly mild aroma....piney hops. Taste is orange-peel and alcohol bitter. Impressive, but not overly flavourful other than the hops. Pretty one-sided.

24oz bottle $7.99. I was excited to try this beer but the price tag was a little higher than I would expect from Sierra Nevada. Orange color, decent head and lacing. The smell is hoppy but nothing spectacular. The taste was disappointing, lots of bitterness and lots of alcohol. The mouthfeel was far too astringent. This was probably the first Sierra beer that really disappointed me, I wontbe buying another. This was like an amped up torpedo, not impressed. update 03-9-2012 Picked up a four pack and I liked it much more this year. Nice juicy and hoppy aroma. Flavor was thick with hops and a little astringent but It was well worth the $10 I paid. Need more. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-25-2011 01:48:37

Bottle. Pours darkish honey color. Large frothy white head. Nice big lacing. Aroma of grapefuit. Flavor of piney bitterness combined with caramel sweetness. Good thicker palate. Lots of flavors. Huge bitter mouthfeel. Not super drinkable, but that isn’t the idea. Good beer to sip on.

Pours amber orange with a small off white head. Aroma and taste hit you right away with bitter orange and plenty of hops.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2013 On tap at Young Avenue Deli. Has a deep orange color, smell of strong hops. Taste surprised me. Thicker than I expected. Hoppy with a bite, but semi sweet. Almost creamy. Not one of my favorite IPAs.

Pours bright orange with medium carbonation and a small white head. Nose is american hops. Very floral. Piney, citrus, and fruity, mostly oranges. VERY BITTER, deffinately did not expect it to jump out at me like this. Medium bodied with nice carbonation complementing the bitter fruity flavours from the hops. If I had to guess id say Citra and Cascade hops. The finish is dry and not very long but it works. Very great beer to sip on. I am pairing this with a grilled hamburger with garlic and red pepper seasonings. Not my favorite IPA to have with food, but not bad. Overall, this beer is a novelty to me, I wouldnt have more than one, but id love to drink this big beer on occasion. Something everyone should try for themselves

Poured a nice deep color and a mega hop nose. Wonderful head leaves great lacing. Hop bomb for sure but one that is great. No other real flavor than hops which brings a real true iipa. I would love to try this draft!

Aroma: nice smell of hops, fruit and sweetness, you can smell some carbonation. Appearance: Average, almost no head, maybe a finger worth, and it doesn’t last at all, the lacing is ok, but not super impressive. Golden amber color that is almost opaque. Taste: Wow, what a hop bomb, but at the same time it doesn’t really hit until after the flavor has a chance to settle, and afterwards its a hoppiness that I actually haven’t experienced. Amazing, IPA. Palate: Perfect, not much more to say frankly. Overall: The second best IPA I’ve ever had, second only to the 90 minute, but its really close, and I can see how someone would actually place this above 90 minute because of the more powerful hops involved. Excellent and highly recommended.
