COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

This beer has loads of hop flavor, impressed with the amount of hop flavor given the high alcohol content. A pale cloudy orange with a fluffy off white head. Tons of pine aroma. Taste tons of floral and subtle pine but balanced by the lightly toasted malt.

Pours a hazy golden orange color. Nosy is hoppy and full of citrus and piney. Taste is a mouthful of shear bitterness moderated by some nice sweetness. Finish is long and bitter, nice double IPA, not for the

Pours amber with a white head and aroma of hops and pine. Taste is delicious, sweet and of massive hops, pine, and floral, fruity notes with a huge bitter finish. Full flavored throughout, great brew that is very enjoyable to drink.

Bottle in my hotel room, Manhattan - 28/05/12. Clear orange/amber with a big off-white head that soon dissipates. Big hop nose, sweet and floral, pine and citrus in the background. Pine, grapefruit, grass, hops, bitter orange in taste. Fuller end of medium bodied, dry finish, something not quite right there.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin, white head that disappears quickly. Aromas of floral hops, citrus, and grapefruit. Taste is hoppy as hell and it coats the mouth. Has a dry finish and the alcohol is masked very well. Has just enough caramel malts to balance it out and not make it too bitter, but this is a hop-heads treat.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2014 12 oz bottle. Cool packaging, I like the name. This is the ale that introduced me to the flavorful world of craft beer. Pour is crystal clear, amber hued. A finger of off white head. Aroma is typical of Sierra Nevada IPAs but as little heavier on the hops. Flavor is actually nicely balanced. Not too much of anything, I guess my only complaint is that it isn’t as hoppy as I’d prefer from an almost 11% beer. It ends up seeming a little hot. Overall this is fairly priced and a decent IIPA.

Orange amber under a thin white head. Aromas are sharp orange, grapefruit and lime with some sweet caramel. Taste is sweet, bitter and heavy. Struggled with this one because of harsh bitterness and boozy medicinal character and the extreme lingering resinous bitterness. Hoppy beast of a beer.............more.....no!

With one whiff, and you know this will be concentrated. Strong malt backbone is always present. Dense layers of honey, florals, citrus and herbs. Smooth malt mid-palate, leads to a semi-bitter floral/herb/grapefruit rind tinged finish. A powerful beer. Could use a bit more balance and finesse overall. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Draft. One thing a like about this beer is that it provides the wallop of a iipa but is drinkable. Lots of hops provides a full palate of pine, grass, orange and honey notes. Mediumly bodied, this is a real sipper.
