beautiful crystal clear red gold color with gorgeous dense white light yellow head that leaves superior lacing. the taste is amazing. if this exists why chase hopslam in kansas city? better beer imo. dazzling resinous hops imparting both pine and citrus. itís as kind as it can be to the palate as it temporarily ruins it. very bitter with moments of sweetness. iíve had almost 2 and iím smoked. VERY well hidden alcohol. Fuckin tremendous. favorite ipa ever at the moment.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, deep gold with a creamy white head. Heavy pine and sweet citrus nose. Think blood oranges or tangerines instead of grapefruit or lemon. Caramel, pine, and toasted crust on the mid-palate. Medium body, quite creamy, a bit resinous/oily, with lively carb. Solid peppercorn spiciness and grapefruit-pith bitterness in the lingering finish. I have not been overly enamored with íbigí beers lately, but this is pretty tasty. I have always preferred a strong malt backbone to balance copious hops, and this one does that respectably well. The booze is very well hidden, thankfully; but that kind of abv is just way too high for me these days. Therefore, drinkability is the only reason I could not personally bump this up to a 4.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle from 2012. Pours a deep orange with white head. Dissipates quickly. Aroma is slight floral, tropical, bitter hops but very minimal across the board. Taste is lacking and is more of a "Sierra Nevada" taste than anything else. The alcohol is once again very apparent which I was hoping would be tamed from the 2011 release. Overall, a nice change to 12oz bottles but this is getting a little run of the mill.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Floral citrus aroma and orange appearance lead into a strong hoppy taste and stronger hoppy after taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thin off-white head of fine bubbles with very good carbonation. Juicy peaches aroma with some light piney and herbal hops with some caramel malts. Color is a bright crystal clear copper. HOT brew. Big alcohol presence and warming from the first sip. Decent malt backbone to offset the large hoppy bitterness. More pine and some mint along with some bready malts and yeast. Alcohol kind of thins out the body and overpowers some of the flavor. Plentiful bitterness late swallow with some more herbs and a hint of pineapple very late. Surprisingly easy drinking and it goes down WAY to easy. A very good IIPA. Thanks to etowneraser for this one.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Iíve had many hop experiments, and I remember when the first dry hopped beer emerged some years ago. I know a few beers that are less balanced (less malts, sweetness, alcohol...just hop water kinds of things), and Iíve had quite a few badly-brewed beers that are more ugly-astringent in some way. But I donít think Iíve ever had a high-end beer with more overall hop assault on the senses than this. Truly, it attacks from beginning to end, with a massive floral and grapefruit flavor and a long, long bitter finish. It was too much, and it had me begging for mercy. The high abv was nice, and I think may have helped it out (it wasnít hot, just noticeable), but overall I couldnít take it. I finished about 2/3rds of the bottle and drained-poured the rest. For my taste, brewers have now successfully found the upper limit of hops. Iím far more interested in the upper limits of sour. Bottle.

12oz bottle. Rating #522. Clear dark copper/gold pour with a nice white head that left some great lacing. Clean grassy aroma, light pine, fresh. Nice bitterness, more light pine with a mild citrus note with a bit of alcohol in the finish. (2297)
