4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Literally smells like weed. Could the proprietary hops be canibus? Glows orange/amber.
Taste is hoppy, very well hopped, bitterness dominates but is well balanced by a fruitiness as well. Really hits hard on the back end, with a pungent bitterness and dryness, leave a strong aftertaste but not overpowering.
One of the better imperial ipas I have had because it is not overdone, but very powerful. Awesome.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a brilliant orange with a fingers worth of an off white head and left decent lacing. The aroma is almost non-existent when it comes straight out of the fridge. Given 15-20 minutes to warm up on the counter it gave off a decent aroma of citrus and pine. Bitter as all get out on the front of the tongue but very balanced as it proceeds. Mouth feel was resinous leaving a long lasting after taste.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a light orange amber with a small creamy white head. The aroma is an awesome bouquet of citrus, grapefruit, topical fruit, and peaches. The taste is very fruity and hoppy with solid bitterness and a pleasant dry finish. Overall, this is an excellent beer that is damn near perfect.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a light amber with two finger woods of creamy off-white head, loss of sticky lace lefty behind. Citrus, point and floral hops on the nose, faint at first but grows as it warms. The taste is darn near perfect, lots of hoppy bitterness up front with a caramel, malty sweetness following. Alcohol is present but not overpowering. Dry and bitter on the finish. Mouthfeel is very pleasant, medium-high for the style but befitting of such intense flavor, entirely drinkable. This is an awesome DIPA, and one I’ll definitely be buying as much I can of it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle poured a dark golden orange color with a covering of white head. Aroma has citrus, resins, mild tropics, grapefruit, and some bitterness. Aggressive use of the whole cones for sure. Mouth feel is medium coating with average carbonation. Flavor has a bit more from the bitter side, hefty malted base, and some sweetness. The hops seem to have more of the citrus and grapefruit on the nose although they do carry into the flavor joined with the resins, bitterness, and pines. This is a big beer and the alcohol hardly shows but the bitter side just hangs too much for it to be easy to drink.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft @ The Dash-In. This, is an amazing beer. Great color. Aroma is incredible hops, just huge. I get a lot of grapefruit in the flavor. The finish is quite bitter and seems dry, despite it’s final gravity. Excellent in every way. The best thing to come out of Sierra Nevada, no doubt about it.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Cannot compare to Pliny the elder as I have not had it yet but this is the ultimate imperial ipa with hopslam and breckenridge 471. Purchased in bottles this year had on tap last year at sugar maple in Milwaukee. A delicious explosion of well balanced hop bitterness and classic piney grapefruit flavors. I'd be curious to know what the proprietary hop blend is but I'm definitely tasting a citra hop influence.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled 2/17/2012. Pours hazy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger off white head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of huge orange, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, honey, and light pine. Great aromas here with huge fruitiness and absolutely no alcohol noticeable at over 10%. Taste of big mango, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, pine, honey, biscuit, and light herbal spiciness. Surprisingly light bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, mango, citrus, and herbal on the finish for a while. Great flavor balance without being too cloying. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, sticky, and slick mouthfeel. Nice and smooth, but is still definitely a sipper. Alcohol is very well hidden, with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA. Huge hoppy flavor; but still very balanced and as smooth as a 10% brew could be.
