4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled 2/17/2012. Pours hazy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger off white head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of huge orange, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, honey, and light pine. Great aromas here with huge fruitiness and absolutely no alcohol noticeable at over 10%. Taste of big mango, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, pine, honey, biscuit, and light herbal spiciness. Surprisingly light bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, mango, citrus, and herbal on the finish for a while. Great flavor balance without being too cloying. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, sticky, and slick mouthfeel. Nice and smooth, but is still definitely a sipper. Alcohol is very well hidden, with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA. Huge hoppy flavor; but still very balanced and as smooth as a 10% brew could be.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange pour with a disappearing head. Smell is fresh grapefruit and tropical fruits. A very bitter taste greets you up front but there is a well balanced taste underneath all the hops. Finish is quick but leaves a bitter residue. Nice dipa.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an orange that’s almost the color of burnished copper. Smallish head. Massive floral/hop aroma. Flavor is full of citrus with pine-hop bitterness and a certain amount of underlying sweetness that makes the finish quite smooth. Definitely worth checking out.

Tap at the Mason. Pours mostly clear light orange, about a one-finger white head. Cobweb lacing. Huge citrus and resinous hops on the nose, even more on the tongue: bracing bitterness, big clementine and peach, bits of pine and sugared grapefruit. Sticky, prickly mouthfeel. Fantastic.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Amber in color. Thick, creamy head. Above average lacing. Resin in the aroma. Has an earthy aroma also. It smells like weed. It has a very powerful hoppy flavor but a creamy texture. Great combination. This is a hop lovers beer. Awesome.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’ve somewhat soured from sierra nevada lately. Torpedo seems like a grassier, earthier version of the pale ale, and celebration ale has lost it’s magic. I even hesitated when i saw this years Bigfoot. But I’ve always kept the faith and pursued Hoptimum and today I finally bed her. Aroma is super resiny, almost B.O. wet hop aroma. I was worried this would be a boozy mess when I verified the 10.4% abc. However, the flavor doesn’t disappoint. Juicy hop goodness, almost syrupy. Pine, resin, grass, and a little citrus. Hides the alcohol pretty well.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
A clear red-orange beer with a medium white head. The aroma is floral, pine, and resin. The flavor is also very piney and floral with citrus and mouth puckering bitterness, but in a good way.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle with 2048209:54 date code. Pours a clear dark fireweed honey golden with pillowy off white head that leaves sticky lacing. Peachy/pineapple/pine hop aroma...quite a bit of earthiness in there and hints of the catty simcoe as well. Pale biscuit malt base with some peppery undertones. Balanced in the nose and nothing overly aggressive. Tight prickly carbonation. Slow easy piney hop sweetness up front that quickly launches into aggressive bitterness that lingers long on the palate. Malts really just act a a vessel for the hops...’layers of aggressive hoppiness’...that is no joke.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
BAM! Wow, what a heavy hitter! Poured at a good temperature with large, foamy, very frothy, fluffy, billowy, cream colored head that lasts a long time and lots of clingy lace. Color is a clear honey amber with a couple of lazy bubble trails. Aroma is primarily fresh hop with malt, caramel, fresh sawn timber, leather. Flavor is somewhat similar to nose with hop bitter dominant along with some carbonic tang and a little malt sweet. Body is full, somewhat round and almost some sharp bitter points. Finish is like flavor, very long, and very boozy. Excellent beer for a bottle, maybe two.

This is a wonderful example of what an Imperial IPA ( or Double IPA) should be about- Citrus tones like grapefruit, pine notes and very floral, with just enough malt to round out the overall finish. At $10 a four-pack also a decent buy for such a BIG West coast IPA Beer. the 10% ABU is just right to make this a good sipper too!
