4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thin white head, decent lacing, and a medium-amber body. Aroma is heavy resinous hops-- hops completely overpower the malt. Flavor is hop-forward to an extreme... the big malt backbone is revealed on the mid-palate... and the finish is intensely bitter and lingering. Body is big and chewy, with a soft pervasive carbonation. Overall, this is an intense, but nicely crafted Imperial IPA.

Big hop flavor and aroma. Good Imperial IPA. My local shop in Michigan ran out. Pick it up in Texas. Good lacing and orange amber color.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle pours a clear orange with a slight head that’s pretty sticky. Got pine, and lots of grapefruit pulp on the nose. Flavor slaps you across the face with more hop notes, pine, and grapefruit, with a sweet, subtle malt character backing it up. Resinous and sticky as hell. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle pours an orange amber color with aromas of pine, sap, citrus, and some caramel, farily even distributed aromas. Flavors are the same as the aromas balanced nicely.

Bottle from King&Godfree. A hop bomb, complex and long lasting. Aromas of caramel, resin, grass, and liquorice. Taste is bitter, complex, with long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Orange, with a frothy head.

saw a new sierra. had to get it. cold in the fridge at bev-mo. 2012, thats the right year. pours mostly clear. visible carbonation. orange brown. head thins but stays on top for a long time. lots of lacing.. would expect that from a huge beer like this one. here goes. smell is overwhelming citrusy hops. grapefruit, little bit of burnt cherry. mouthfeel is thick, not quite carbonated enough. nice sweet front, short roasty middle and a long bitter finish. This one just might be a bit too much for me in my recent days. 5 or 6 years ago i would have gone crazy about this. not a bad beer. just what you would expect from Sierra. Big citrus hops, as good a balance as you can get with this big a beer. Clean, nice looking, nice smelling, nice tasting. not my thing but doesn’t mean it won’t get a good rating. one beer got me a lil buzz. thx again sierra.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at BTBF. The look is clear, golden in color, and has an ok off white head. The smell is hops, grass, fruits, floral, citrus, and good. The taste is more of the same.

Pours a vivid ruby red with a two-finger head. Excellent lacing. Sexy herbal scent, with apple and citrus. Delicate biscuity palate, with notes of marzipan and hops. Hearty yet effervescent mouthfeel and extremely long finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear light copper with a medium sized, frothy white head. The aroma is a pretty even mix of pine, caramel, and citrus. The flavor is sweet caramel at first, followed by hop flavors (mostly pine), and a long, bitter finish. Very full body, with soft carbonation, and some warming on the finish. Very tasty stuff.

Wowser! Sierra Nevada has done it this time. This one hits on all cylinders. Very nice balance between hops and malt. ABV is well hidden. Easy drinking. All in all a very nice beer here. One that I’ll revisit regularly. I was waiting for SN to put out a good IIPA. This is what I was waiting for!
