A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours a deep orange with a finger and a half of cream colored head. The nose is fruity sweet and fresh with hops. Some malt in the background as well. The taste has the malt up front, with some tip of the tongue sweetness following. The deep hop kick cleans it all up. Finishes a bit chewy with some thick body. A little pricey, I prefer DFH 90 for a DIPA, but it's good to switch things up, and this is a good beer.

Pours a clear amber with think off white head. Nose is citrus & grassy notes with some pine. Flavor is resinous hops with grass and pine. Viscous mouthfeel with a pleasant bitter hoppy finish. Very drinkable for a 10%+ ABV.

12 oz bottle...One of the finest DIPA’s to date. Very impressive and complex bill of hops and SN has managed to bring new flavor profiles to this brew - much like a maker of fine wines. Outstanding

I don’t love it, but it isn’t bad. The color is quite light despite all of the hops. The lacing is oily but thin. The oiliness of the hops caries over to the mouthfeel. The flavor is bitter with some citrus but significant earthiness.

Pours amber with a nice dense head. Nice aroma of spicy hops. Medium bodied with a nice palate for how hoppy it is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (grapefruit, resin, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of dried mango and alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Well, I’ll be doggoned, this ain’t half bad. Nice fruit characters mixed in with the expected resin, good balance for the style, and not terribly abrasive...velvety and creamy. Alcohol doesn’t get out of hand. Not a style I enjoy drinking, but this is a quality rendition.

Bottle. Slightly hazy golden amber pour with a lasting creamy beige head. Aroma is big, hoppy and fruity with a substantial amount of sweet caramel malt and notes of grapefruit, pineapple, mango and lime standing out. Flavour is very similar to the aroma but with much more prominent piney, grassy, herbal characteristics. Full bodied with a thick, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation, a long bitter finish and very little evidence of the abv. This is an exceptionally well made IIPA, one of the best examples of this style I’ve tried in a while. Big and rich but very easy to drink, everything seems to be balanced just right.
