A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

One incredible delight. Out of this world flavor. Sipped very very slowly but very very rewarding. A must for any IPA lover.

A 12 fl oz bottle packaged on 10th April 2015 and poured into a Duvel tulip glass. It poured a clear copper colour with a one and a half finger white head that slowly dissipates into a thin foamy layer that lasts throughout. Aromas of strong piney hops and a light citrus grapefruit. There is also some caramel malts. Mainly pine hops and grapefruit citrus flavours along with some slight caramel malt which is sweet and sticky. There is also some alcoholic booze aftertaste. Full bodied, medium carbonation, creamy and sticky. Overall, I really liked this beer and its hoppiness. It’s very close to a must buy for me. I think the two things that hold it back for me are that the caramelly flavours make it a bit too sweet and the booziness that comes through towards the end is stronger than I would have liked it. But having said that, I would buy more from time to time.

Bottle at home. Clear golden amber, with decent head. Pine and grapefruit in the nose. Taste is marvelous with a lot going on in it; Tons of hoppy goodness, grapefruit and other light fruits, sweet malt, and just a hint of alcohol (though much less than the 10.4% abv would lead you to believe). Gradually gives way to a great bitter finish. A must-try for hop fiends.

Nose full of pine and citrus with some sweetness in the background. Pours a crystal clear golden Amber with a thick foamy bright white head. Starts off smooth and slightly sweet followed by a sharp bitterness. Grapefruit, pine, earth, with a malty caramel backdrop and a hint of booze.

Draft. Clear golden color with thin head. Nice lacing. Floral and citrus aroma. The hops smack you in the face with a lasting bitterness.

Clear bronze color with a thick head and lovely lace. Aroma knocks you to your knees with something floral, something citrusy and a little bit of skunk. Flavor is intense bittersweet, with a medicinal aftertaste. Kinda weird.

Draft at irish mile, pours a bright copper orange with small to medium white head and lacing. Smell and taste of dank hops, orange candy, ultra bitter pine, and lightly toasty malt. She’s a big girl but still easy going at 10.4% and not overly sweet. I Don’t drink these often but can still appreciate its super hoppy profile.

Draft - Pours a clear golden/orange with a frothy head and lacing. A lot going on here: citrus, cereal, peach, caramel. Great mouth feel with some bitterness in the finish. Outstanding!

24 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Very hazy dark orange with a good size white head. Good retention and lacing. On the nose, it’s citrusy hops that come through the most. Strong booze presence second. Some sweet malts come through in the end. The taste is rather simple, unfortunately. Grapefruit hops initially, with a fair amount of booze. Sweet malts come through afterward with a lot of lingering bitterness. Tasty, but one dimensional. Thick, heavy, and sweet. Medium carbonation. Strong booze finish and a lot of bitterness hanging around after the swallow. Tasty, but one-dimensional and boozy.
