A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle from half time. Pours amber capped by a slight off white head with great retention. Strong pine and citrus nose. Amazing full body caramel and malt bulging at the seams of pine and citrus hop and bitterness. What a dream.

Clear yellow pine needle juice. Very hoppy, but thats what you’ve expect. Quite drinkable after your palate is accustomed to the high bitterness.

Very fruity aroma. Some tropical fruits. Well hopped fruity but not too heavy yet to taste. Quite heavy bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. Almost a little too bitter for me to like it. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Nose is pretty light compared to what I was expecting...light tropical fruit and a little background of wet earth. Flavor was initially the fruity/herbal hops of the nose, but then a quick transition to a wallop of boozy heat. This was a hard one to peg, sip-by-sip would show a nice pungent hop profile - then the next sip just the booze. Slightly mouthcoating/syrupy finish.

Flaska från SB. Kanske ett gammalt exemplar för all humle försvann i en överväldigande spritig smak.

12 oz bottle. Bottled on 07/08/14. (Mr. Bill’s) Roanoke, VA.
Clear amber golden colour with a small frothy white head. The aroma is hoppy... well, that’s not a surprise.... it’s fresh, fruity and piney but not bitter. The aroma is not typical for a DIPA but for a much milder IPA. The flavour however is bitter and strong in alcohol and hoppiness. Very dark hoppiness. Very strong in every way.

Hop crazieness...Such a wonderful hop dimension...spicy floral like dancing trough hop fields. Nice bitterness and hop flavor all the way thouigh the entire tasting of the brew.

Jojo, det här var i all sanning en seriöst humlad sak, smaken var obalanserad med toner av äpple, grapefrukt och lakrits. Kroppen var stabil till tusen och upplevelsen mer än väl godkänd.

355ml Bottle - Gold/amber with a small white head. Lemon, grapefruit, pine and some grassy notes in the aroma. Grassy and fresh taste with peach, grapefruit, dried fruit and some resinous notes. Very easy to drink but I think I was expecting or hoping for a bit more following the hype surrounding this beer.
