4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 bleeng (1372) - Houston nowhere near Beersel, Texas, USA - FEB 6, 2011UPDATED: APR 7, 2012 Draft at The Nook Huntsville AL. Clear dark copper color, with a small white head. Nose of sweetness in the hops. Taste is very sweet, nice hop profile, very sticky with a big alcohol kick. The stickiness and sweetness make this a tough one to get down initially but as it warms the beer loosens up a bit. Overall a nice brew but I don’t need many of these. 4/7/12: bottle. this seems to be much better in the bottle-very fresh with a huge hop profile.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tmongoose (664) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 20, 2013
on draft and it poured a golden orange almost copper color. minimal carbonation actually a soft carbonation. white head doesnt last long. solid aroma of hops that are mostly floral with citrus undertones. the one thing i like about this beer is that it was very smooth. had a decent bitterness on the tongue but didnt last long..almost a dry flavor. the flavor itself was very good and smooth. will have this one again.
4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ryanscourt (271) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2013
The aroma is just fantastic and fresh. The flavors are great, extremely hoppy without being overbearing. Not oily at all. Bitter finish but not woody or overly piney. Best DIPA I have had to date and this is coming after visiting Three Floyds and having several of theirs.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jeremyh70 (346) - Missouri, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Pours a hazy dark orange/copper with two fingers of white head and decent lacing. Pine and grapefruit aroma with some citrus and marmalade. Big grapefruit hop flavor with pine needle bitterness and resiny taste up front on palate. In the middle of the mouth you get some of the marmalade and malt sweetness followed by more grapefruit and citrus. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness and warmth from the 10% ABV. Mouthfeel is just shy of being sticky with a moderate/full body and medium/high carbonation. A very well crafted DIPA that has lots of hop flavor and hardly any alcohol noticeable. Enjoyable but a sipper for sure.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 adam42381 (361) - Fort Myers, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tulip. Bottled on March 19, 2013 per Julian date code printed on bottle.
Appearance: Pours a clear medium gold with a 1-2 finger fluffy eggshell white head which dissipates slowly, leaving a ring around the edges and a pool of bubbles in the middle. Nice head retention and lacing.
Smell: Excellent blend of hoppy goodness that features aromas of sweet citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, bready malt, a hint of pine and a touch of alcohol.
Taste: Pine, floral hops and bitter citrus up front followed by bready malt and grassy hops in the middle before ending with a huge blast of bitter, resinous hops at the finish. Aftertaste is extremely bitter and long-lasting. The IBUs really come through while the alcohol is well masked.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Very smooth and the hop oils really coat the mouth.
Drinkability: Very good drinkability. This doesn’t seem like a beer with 10.5% ABV.
Overall: Excellent beer overall. This is a hophead’s dream. At 100 IBU, this one is very bitter - and I like it that way. If you like hoppy beers, this is a must try.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 adamelb (5) - Schenectady, New York, USA - MAY 19, 2013 does not count
Definitely nails the style, but for me I don’t see a huge difference in hop flavor between this and SNs torpedo. It masks the extra alcohol beautifully and there is a bit more going on, but the bitterness makes it hard to discern the subtle taste the whole cone hops lend to the ale.
resin, spruce, citrus,

Pours clear amber with a small white head. Subtle aroma of grapefruit and pine with a touch of dankness. At this point I am thinking this is going to be good. But the taste is heavily dank with flowers and earthiness. Lots of grapfruit rind and pineapple. Too much of the things I don't like. This is probably great for someone who likes this style of ipa. I am more of a bitter pine with a lighter body. Too sweet and dank for me. Very complex though.

Complex. Balanced. Hops seems tamped down, muted. Doesn’t have the bite I’m looking for.

Draft at The Growler Bites and Beer. Pours light clear amber with a tremndous off-white head. Big aromas of sweet citrus, pine and earthiness. taste is sweet tropical fruits, floral notes, grass, earth, citrus fruit and slight spice. Nice finish that slightly sweet and slightly bitter. Nice balance.

A strong imperial IPA for sure, just wanted more citrusy, piney aroma on the nose. Pours a typical amber. Aroma is piney, resin, and faintly citrus with a hint of onion. Simcoe, meh. Taste is piney, resin, faint citrus. Finish is clean bitter and really good. Overall, it’s a good brew just wanted a little more "wow" on the aroma.
