COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours darkish honey color. Large frothy white head. Nice big lacing. Aroma of grapefuit. Flavor of piney bitterness combined with caramel sweetness. Good thicker palate. Lots of flavors. Huge bitter mouthfeel. Not super drinkable, but that isn’t the idea. Good beer to sip on.

Pours a hazy gold color with decent lacing and no head retention. Smells floral and has a nice hoppy taste and almost finishes of mango. A very nice beer here. Will look for this again.

Bottled (04/01/15). Pours clear amber/orange with a big off-white head. Aroma is big resin, hops, pine, sort of sticky sweet malt, citrus, some tropical fruits. orange, grapefruit. Flavor is very hop forward, but a very pronounced sticky sweet malt backbone, very long bitter hop finish, tropical fruits, grapefruit. It’s 10% and you can taste it in a great way. So full-bodied. Awesome double. Overall, great middle of the mouth sticky sweet malt that balances it out, but there’s so much hop finish. Lots of hops in this beer.

Pours golden with a medium full head. Aroma is sherbert, lime and grass. Very very bitter, tastes of alcohol, ethers and rose. Surprisingly tasty versions of that though.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2015 Bottle: Golden-yellow body; hazy, topped with a fat, bright white head. Great lacing all over the glass. Nose is heavily pungent with hops. Straight lupulin acid, hemp oil, dank resins, green onion, grapefruit, orange, lemon zest, sweet caramel malt, crystalline sugars, stinging perfume. Heavy. Taste is ever bigger. Large pine sap presence, thick & viscous hop oils, dense & resinous to the core. Grapefruit, sticky dank citrus flesh, sweet caramel malt, bitter grass, vegetal onion, sugar cookie, pungent botanical & floral finish. Coats like a pine-tree. Aftertaste lasts with heavy, sticky malt & warming alcohol, but the bitter pungency never fully subsides. Thick ass mouth feel for the style. An intense beer. Maybe a little overboard. Certainly too sticky-heavy & sweet for my DIPA preferences, but the insane hoppage gives it some life.

Super citrusy aroma. The taste is full of citrus. Good carbonation. Almost becomes a little sweet with all that alcohol. I think this one is not dry enought for my taste.

27.1.2015. Fruity hoppy aroma, banana, pineapple, passionfruit. Taste is a bit harsh bitter, exotic fruits, pine. A bit too alcoholic.

A little hazy, amber-golden beer with a two finger high, white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Nose: Hops, citrus, grapefruit, resin, herbs and orange. Taste: Grapefruit, grass, resin, mandarin, hops and orange. Body: Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. A great bitterness that grows at the end. Great texture. I LOVE this beer! Amazing!

Tons of simco aromas of fresh hay and red grapefruit and that typical resin. I only know this from single simco IPAs. Sticky mouthfeel and well hidden alcohol. So drinkable considering big hops and high ABV
