A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottled and on tap numerous occasions/locations. Rating is for bottle. Clear gold color with a fat rocky white cap of foam. Aroma is immediate and intense; grapefruit, pine sap, rum cake and hay. Very nice, makes me salivate! Flavor begins with meaty sweetness which turns into an epic mouth-raping hop assault. Resinous hop bitterness throughout the back end with more citrus character and woody pine. Finishes sweet and a bit heavy. Overall enjoyable, however I find it a bit too malty/sweet. I’m a sucker for the big IPA’s that can pull off more of a crisp, peppery, dry floral finish. Alcohol on this one is a straight dome-shot.

Dominant IPA that is so crisp and fresh. Lots of hops and is accompanied with that great golden appearance. One of my favorite IPAs

Sweet caramelly aroma, toffee, orange, orange zest. Smooth sweet palate, saved from slickness by a little prickly carbination. Tons of sweet biscuitty two-row, classic strong american IPA, not showing its strength. In fact it’s rather luscious, and very mellow. Touch of ginger in the taste. Nice level of aromatic citrussy hops, but nice levels of bittering. Good balance for a big beer. Not aggressive, to be honest.

Puumaisuuttakin on joukossa, muttei hedelmää.

Hazy deep amber color, average sized off white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, peach, malt, pine. Creamy texture. Full body, soft carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter taste. Long piny bitter finish. Alcohol pops out now and then, but not enough to bother me. Wonderfuly balanced and very fruity DIPA.

Aroma of caramel, rose and pine. A real nice looking beer.... Nice amber copper color with lots of white lacing and head. Tastes malty caramel with a citrus hop back kick. A good beer.

Mycket smak, men bra blanserad.

A horse kick right in your set of clickers. Aroma is tons of exotic fruits, thick pine needles, citrus peels and actually a fair amount of bread tones. The flavor is almost as I remember last years, a full on attack from the hops at first, turning in to a sweetness in the middle before turning back again to a long bitter finish. Grapefruit zest, pine, a soft touch of peaches, heavy white bread notes underneath and the finale is actually almost a little too bitter even for me. Also, I catch a tad of alcohol in the finish. Those last words take the grade down a couple of notches for this years edition, but hear this, this is a brutal brew and a must have experience!
