brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 23, 2007 (bottle) Copper body, medium off-white head that leaves lacing on the glass. Aroma is full of hops but also sweet malt. The flavor is dominated by piney hops with a little malt sweetness up front. Long, bitter finish. Medium-to-thick body, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Jukkabro (2983), Tampere, Finland Apr 22, 2007 Orange colored, little white head. Hopped, floral, lemony, only slightly fruity aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is more hopped with dry touch, fruits only mildly there. Too much hops for me, at least to be had at first beer in the morning... Mild alcohol in aftertaste. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Apr 21, 2007 Frothy white head dissolves relatively slowly. Hoppy aroma is evident with some mild grassy undertones. Hop flavor is mild and smooth, albeit not remarkable. Another easy drinking IPA that is refreshing on a summer evening luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Apr 21, 2007 This is an English rendition of the IPA. While British IPA’s are not as good as the American version, this one is very pleasant. The heavy English malts with a beer that’s more bitter than citrus. It doesn’t have the nose that American IPA"s do, but it’s a classic example of the style. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Apr 20, 2007 JUST HAD IT 20 MINUTES AGO (FROM THE BOTTLE) AND I WASN’T IMPRESSED EITHER. GRAPEFRUIT AND BITTER CHALK, NO MALT BACKING THAT I WOULD SPEAK OF. HAD IT BEFORE AND THOUGHT IT WAS BETTER. NICE AND BITTER NEEDS MORE FOR A GOOD RATING. SMOOTH PALATE AND NICE SUDSY FEEL. SOMETHING GOING ON LIKE A FLORAL TINGE BUT HARD TO DISCERN. LOSES POINTS FOR THAT. 757HopHead (12), Reno, Nevada, USA Apr 20, 2007 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Inch of head that slowly dissipates to a thin layer floating on top. Floral/piney smell. Tastes pretty good. Alright to good mouthfeel. Sticky lacing on the glass down to the last drop. Had it first about a year ago, and remembered that I wasn’t impressed. Feel the same way now. Not bad, but would take many others before this one. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Apr 19, 2007 Pours copper with a thin tan/off white head and sustained carbonation. Smells of pine and caramel. Tastes caramelly with only sparse hoppy hints. A good interpretation of what an IPA may have tasted like after a long journey, but very bland by today’s standards. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 16, 2007 355 ml bottle - pours a honey shade with a small white head. Aroma fairly faint, but what is there are some piney hops, and more surprising is the malt that dominates here - quite uncharacteristic of an American IPA. Same goes with the flavour - big sweet malt upfront and then a medium bitter finish, and an odd soapiness in there as well. Good, and very well balanced, but compared to the better American IPAs, this one pales (bad pun intended) in comparison.
