SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Dec 20, 2008 Draught at 99 Bottles. Amber with a lasting head. Light earthy and hoppy aroma. The flavor has a fat caramel malt body, almost a bit buttery, with a firm woody and citrucy hop bite. The bitterness creeps up on you, but its there. More malt than their other IPAs, or maybe thats just the english hops not popping as much as the typical SN hop bill. For an English styled IPA, I can dig this. Different from your usual west coast, dry, supper hoppy IPA. A nice change. Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Dec 7, 2008 Draught @ The Brew Kettle, Strongsville, Ohio - Pours amber, good head. Aroma is lots of hops, but you can tell there is some malts waiting as well. Very well balanced taste with a subdued burst of hops and very nice sweet malts. If you are into IPAs that do not necessarily punch you in the crotch, this is perfect. Great summer drinking ale. poolboy (66), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Dec 3, 2008 Very high quality for a highly available beer. A clean taste with decent hops. Very well balanced in taste, aroma, and appearance. thefle (111), , New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 This is my go to beer in most liquor stores when I feel saucy. A pretty standard IPA that gives you the bite you’d expect when you want ipa’s bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle: a beer I’ve had a million times it seems, just finally rating it, pours a golden amber with a frothy white head, aroma is hoppy, some citrus, taste is hoppy but not overpowering, bitter finish. Solid stuff. AsaNewt (113), blackpool, Lancashire, England Sep 15, 2008 bottle. this is a really lovely colour but nose is disappointing. it makes up in the flavour. palette is strong but not overpowering. overall a good session drink Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 14, 2008 courtesy of Tony Flükiger; 2007 vintage - hazy red-orange colour with a poor foam left; oily hoppy nose showing notes of peach and melon; medium-bodied and with a moderate carbonation; slightly oily palate but finishes very dry and very bitter; long fruity and flowery hoppy finish Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Aug 2, 2008 12 oz. 2007 bottle. Amber in color. Nose is a bit weak, so much so that the alcohol almost seems to dominate. Head was minimal and didn’t last. A fairly mild IPA, hop wise, with most of the bitterness up front, but quite drinkable.
