First IPA I ever had and still one of my favorites to come back to. Fairly light and crisp mouthfeel, carbonation and hops in the nose. Very little malts. Surprisingly dry and bitter. Could have a thicker mouthfeel, but still a well done IPA. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2007 I’ve been looking forward to trying this ever since I heard that it was being bottled.
Pours a clear orangey/copper with a half inch head that quickly settle to a spotty cap and ring, and laves behind a pretty nice lace on my glass.
Smell; floral, piney hops with just a hint of orange peel. A bit more subdued than your normal American IPA.
Taste; at first this is a bit sweet, and then those piney hops hit the tongue, but the bitterness isn’t overpowering. There’s a nice balnce of malts, along with a bit of spiciness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and the finish is a bit drying, which would make it hard to drink many of these. grease (42), Reno, Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2006 A nice, English-style IPA in the historical tradition (minus the sloshing about in the belly of a boat and the Brett infection). Hops are bold and earthy with some resinous character. Malt is present, but not overly assertive. ogglethorp (887), Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2006 Bottle. Pours a cleazy orange amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is pine, floral. Flavor is malt, some pine and grapefruit. Palate is medium to light, bitter finish. Is this a joke, an IPA? Wow, this is a poor offering from SN. This is less hoppy than their pale. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2006 A pale of good balance with a decidely englis bent. Nice clean and soft herbal nose that borders on earthy. A session beer but hardly and IPA. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Good but narrow and fleeting when compared to the best IPA’s. Cliff (361), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2006 i felt this beer was totally unbalanced. almost no malt to support the hoppal assault. very resiny and not much mouthfeel. taste was overly bitter but it did have a nice finish. i like the pale ale much better. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2006 Draught sample at Union Beer Trade Tasting, NYC. Clear sunset-amber with a small white head. Lots of resiny hops in the aroma. Crisp mouthfeel. Big hop flavour - similar to the Pale Ale in some respects, but much bigger and brighter. A little simple, but still good stuff - I could do a session of this one.
