roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2006 Pours a nice medium orange color with a thin amount of foamy white head. Nice hoppy citric, yet not overpowering aroma. Flavor is not what I expected. Hoppy, yet not overly bitter hops, instead more floral, and a much sweeter more carmely taste. Overall, yummy. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 15, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, amber golden with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma. Medium body with weak notes of caramel. A whiff of pineapple perhaps? Some aroma hops, but I don’t really find the hops clean, crisp or citrusy. Extremely dry, hoppy finish. 110606 alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 12, 2006 Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is spicy, hoppy and rather malty. Feels clean to the nose. I dont expect this to be sweet or super hoppy we’ll see... Mm... taste is somewhat sweet afterall and decently hopped. This slides solidly into the IPA category. Citrus, caramel, spice and a hint of metallic characteristics. Body is medium to light, not cloying at all, clean finish. I enjoy this IPA but I would just call it solid IPA, nothing mindblowing. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 12, 2006 Bottle.
Clear amber coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of malts, caramel, pine needles and hops.
Flavour of malts, caramel, hops and pine needles.
Dry hoppy finish. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Ok, regardless of what everyone else thinks, I liked this beer. As soon as I finished the pour (amber-orange color with a small head that gave nice lacing), I was amazed at how subtle the hops were in the aroma. The flavor was excellent, all non American hops. Wow, a West Coast IPA that didn’t load up with pine cones, citrus, and flower boquets. In fact, this made me crave an altbier, which has more malt complexity to go along with the Euro hopping. In any event, the flavor was light citrus and caramel in the thin malt base. Excellent bittering hop finish, that only leaves the American hop heads in want of more. For me, this was enjoyable, medium mouthfeel, not overly done hopping. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Jun 11, 2006 Bottle, courtesy Quintana. Medium amber with offwhite head. Nose of sticky sweet citrus hops and rich caramel, with floral and earthy notes in the background. Very well balanced flavors of grapefruit hops and malt sweetness, with a balanced bitterness throughout. Very nicely done, and more subdued than I was expecting based on SNPA. Quite tasty. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jun 10, 2006 Bottle. Light citrus/floral/caramel aroma. Clear amber color, off white head gradually thins and then sticks throughout the drinking experience. Flavor is bitter with a hoppy floral kick. Definitely more bitter than other IPAs. The bitterness lingers a bit too long. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2006 Dark straw/coppery colored, with a big resiny hop aroma and flavor, backed by a caramel malty flavor, and some floral black peppery notes. Somewhat astringent in the finish.
