hershiser2 (902), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Mar 22, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark copper with a small head. Grassiness in the nose- no citrus detectable. Flavor is much like a hoppy lager... and has an objectional funk to it. Yea, it’s hoppy... but not tasty. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Mar 22, 2006 Poured a nice dark copper color, head was a little less than expected. Nice Citrus flavor, abit milder than expected, but nice hops flavor none the less, Alcohol is not detected at all, overall, a very solid beer! ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 20, 2006 Draught. Curious that it took this long for the founder of the North American hop movement to come out with an IPA. Sweet, fruity, hoppy excellent aroma. Hazy gold in color with some sparse carbonation. Some lace. Not much head, but nice color. Fruity and full bodied; as expected, more bitter than SNPA. Very good! An excellent IPA I would put it in the 80th percentile, but I see it as only made the 56th. There’s that ratebeer macro bias rearing its ugly head again. Resiny and piney. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Mar 18, 2006 Updated: Mar 19, 2006Six pack of bottles from BevMo: Rich copper color with a small, fading off white head. Aroma is flowery with some grassy hops. Flavor starts malty sweet followed by some citrus bitterness and a light, but long, dry orange rind finish. Medium bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2006 Decent offering from Sierra Nevada. Beer is a clear orange color, minimal head retention. Nice hop aroma, hop taste not too overpowering, could use a bit more balance though. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Mar 17, 2006 Pours a rusty orange with a fluffy tan head. Decent lacing present. Big floral hop aroma, big hoppy taste: bitter as expected, but something’s missing ... kind of a one-note beer. Needs more of a malt undercurrent. An ok brew, but I probably won’t buy it again. alabamajohn (67), Alabama, USA Mar 17, 2006 2006 bottle. A dark IPA, copper color. nice floral aroma. Plenty of bouncy malts to start, and plenty more hops to finish. Very good.
ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Mar 17, 2006 2006 bottle. Orange colored pour with a small tan head which goes away rather quickly. Beer is pretty lively, and easy to drink. Not bad, not as good as celebration ale by any means, but its drinkable.
