tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Mar 10, 2006 12 ounce bottle from matta. This is a decidedly English version of the style. Pours a very clear light amber with a dirty white resinous head. The aroma is quite earthy, with background caramel notes fighting their way to be noticed. Toasty malt flavors. Big time btterness. Long dry finish. Good and full bodied. Leaves the mouth slick after each drink. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 9, 2006 Pours a nice, clear amber with a big, off-white head. The aroma is fairly light, some caramel, pine and grass. The flavor is not lacking however, rich caramel, piney, some citrus. Full-bodied, long bitter finish. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 9, 2006 A little soapy-hoppy aroma, but ok. The hops aren’t really that overt, but they sustain and it finishes with more than it begins, but not wonderfully. A fairly average IPA and below what I was expecting. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Mar 7, 2006 Peach juice with a soapy head. The nose is caramel corn and biscuity malts. A slight hint of perfume establishes a hop presence. Medium mouthfeel is nice for an IPA. Quite a bit of bitterness from the get go, moving into a smooth, sweet malt middle. The finish is nicely hopped - both grassy and citrusy. SN needs to pull their Pale Ale and replace it with this. Although this isn’t great, it’s a good choice for your hop fix at the right price. Beaver (587), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 7, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a good size pillowy orange-white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is biscuity doughy malt with some grassy, slightly metallic, hops with a little fruitiness.
The flavor is sweet bready, slightly fruity, malts followed by a subdued grassy floral bitterness. It is medium bodied.
Overall a really subdued IPA. It’s very similar to the regular pale ale, but I like this a tad better.
mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 7, 2006 Another sample at Rich O’s. I think the secret is to take copius notes. Wish we could get this where I live. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Mar 6, 2006 Pours out a clear aber/copper color with a small fading head. Sweet aroma, not as hoppy as expected. Taste is nice some malts and spice but mostly bitter hop taste, to me this was a maltier celebration ale. Not a bad brew, would drink again sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Mar 5, 2006 12oz bottle. Clear golden amber hue. Surprising malt nose. Bitter flavor that sneaks up on you. Piney and bitter. Floral and citrus. Runs the hop gamut.
