Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Mar 28, 2008 Had this right after having a Saranac IPA and I have to say this won hands down. Enjoyed the smoothness and the balance. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Mar 21, 2008 Amber with a fine head. Sweet caramel aroma with some weak hops. The flavours are more malty than hoppy to begin with, sweet and bicuit-like. Then the bitterness starts kicking in toward the dry end. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Feb 23, 2008 From bottle 2007 : Pours cloudy amber apple juice looking color, with a small fizzy head, decent lacing. Floral hops dominate the nose, with some malt in and out. Taste suprised me a bit, not your average ipa taste. Some chewy malts, with sweetness and floral hops. Aftertaste is more of the same malts. Medium body that thins in the end, chewy feel as i mentioned. Interesting, but not wonderful. mugabe (215), Sweden Feb 20, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper, thick head. Hoppy aroma with some toffee. Heavy hop and toffee flavour with a very dry finish. Very good IPA. mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 16, 2008 Updated: Mar 10, 2008Bottle. Pours an amber with a white head. The nose is caramel but mainly floral hops giving the beer som pine and grapefruit components. The flavour profile starts with a hint of sweetness, which makes me think of peaches. After that the bitterness attacks your palate with some floral and grapefruity notes together wih some malty caramel. The finish is bitter. Nice! MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Feb 10, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at the Magic dave6 shindig at Chris O’s. Semi hazy amber with a thin off white head. Malt, hops, rather sweet, slight bitterness in a long dry finish. Dull as hell. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Feb 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head that leaves minimal lacing. The aroma is the California hoppiness that I have come to enjoy: citrus, floral, some pine joined by some sweet caramel malt. The flavor is caramel malts with the citrus, floral, and piney hops. Not bad, but not up to the standards of the other southern California IPAs. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 2, 2008 First off, I want to say that I appreciate the fact that SN labels this as the 2007 IPA. I personally feel more brewers should use dates for their beers.
Pours a very slightly fogged amber. Small cream head. Nose is pine hops. Flavor is nice and thick, malty, and mature. Exemplifies the style. Nothing Showy. Just well made. Smooth but a bit thin on the liquid. Nice carbonation. Very drinkable. Could have many of these for sure. For SN to still be putting out a quality product like this after being in the biz for so long...well...it almost makes a man weepy. Almost. Thanks for not selling out SN.
