Commercial Description:
Brewed using a blend of English malts. Magnum hops are used for the early hop addition, with Goldings for finishing and dry hopping. A very flavorful and hoppy ale.

Disappointing. Poured a grainy gold; smallish white head. Aroma was not very strong; aroma of bread, yeast, malt and some hops. Flavor was about the same; too bready for my taste, hop flavor not too good. Finish was bad.

12 oz. bottle. Light amber color with small head. Mild aroma with honey, flowers and watermelon. Fruity hop flavor with rounded caramelly, raisiny and bisquity malts. Bitter-sweet finish. Suprisingly simple for a Sierre Nevada. Rounded caramel flavor detracts from the hop character.

Tap @ Bistro 6th Annual IPA Festival (August 9, 2003). Slighly hazy amber color with a tan head. Sweet malts with some fruit in the aroma. Balanced.

Clear, bright golden/ amber hue, thick, puffy, white head. Classic look, I’m ready for the rest... Vibrant, hoppy nose, but clean and tight. I can’t imagine which hops are here, but it’s a spicy, zesty blend...none of the grapefruit-y esters one associates with Sierra Nevada, that’s for sure. I like it. English style, lively, but not over-the-top. Tasting it...bouncy hop play on the palate at first sip, they jump and jostle all over the tongue, but in a most gentle fashion. Bitterness is well within the bounds of propriety, but dazzles the senses just enough. Further flavors raise their voices, apples, ginger, spice, a slice of lemon. Ample malt, hold the court full well, little biscuit and cracker tasting. Firm body, bitter finish, long hold on the palate actually, great hoppy flavor never really flags or fades. I’m liking this one more and more as I finish the glass. A terrific IPA, not at all like one of the new breed SoCal palate-smashers, but unfailingly delicious all the way through. Nice one.

Quite surprised to have the opportunity to rate this. Draft at Capital Ale House. Coppery orange with a good head. Aroma of warm alcohol and malts, little hops to my surprise. When cool, the beer didn't show much. As it warmed, a very nice interplay of sweet caramel malts and spicy hops melded together. Well made.

On tap at pizza plant. Very floral and sweet aroma. I smell cherries. Cascades in nose as well. Pour copper/amber with nicew frothy white head. Very creamy with nice body. Centennials to start with cascades finishing. Sweet notes.

Clear golden-orange color with moderate carbonation and a clean, sudsy white head. Aroma of juicy apples, citrus, fresh tea leaves, and must. Flavor has a citrusy hop profile and nice malt character like tea lightly sweetened with honey. Medium-high bitterness and fairly drying. Nicely fresh with a good marriage of malt and hop characters.

Faint hoppy nose on this dark brown pour. Not a lot of head and a disappointing amount of hop character the body.
