It’s very hoppy, but it’s just bitter-hoppy, with none of the tasty fruity esters lots of hopmonster IPAs have. Very clean, crisp, and refreshing, but just not that complex. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Bottle. Pours reddish gold apple juice color with small, but rocky, white head. Lots of fast rising bubbles in the glass. The aroma is mostly grassy hops, with a bit of toast and just a hint of chemicals. The flavor has a great deal of toast and coarse grain. The hops are mostly bitter, without adding much floral/citrus/pine character, but the nondescript bitterness better accompanies these particular malts anyway. Nice, dry, earthy finish, but a subtle sweetness comes out in the aftertaste. Not too bad. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2006 Clear amber body with a moderate head with decent lacing. Aroma is hoppy with notes of grapefruit, citrus, spices. Also caramel. Maybe some English hops in here, not positive. Definitely wasn’t like most PNW IPAs. While the balance here was good, it was far from my favorite example. I guess I just prefer the blast of PNW hops instead of Goldings or whatever it is. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2006 A dark orange appearance with a fluffy white head. The flavor is rather malty and not exactly bursting with flavor. I taste some oranges and grapefruit and not much else. Overall a good session beer but I expected more from Sierra. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Orange-gold pour with a big, white rocky head. Oddly, the nose is sweetly maltlike, with hints of piney hops. Rather light flavor - some malt, a touch of grapefruit. Peppery bitter finish finally shows up late. Eh. Really bland. Expected better from SN. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2007 355ml bottle. Amber coloured. Aroma is hoppy and fairly alcohol. Flavour is more balanced than I imagined, enough malt with hoppy balance. I expected this to be quite like Celebration but it’s more restrained and English in style. Very drinkable for the strength. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
