Some pinecone hops, less obvious taste of orange; slick, stale iced tea is a bit sharp. Sharply carbonated and medium bodied. Slightly cottony mouthfeel. Refreshing and enjoyably simple, if an excessively tepid example. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Pours a clear orange with a thick and fluffy white head. Piney hop aroma. Hoppy flavor with a malt backbone. I expected a lot of citrusy flavors and they are not really here to be found. A decent beer but not exactly spectacular. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 23, 2006 Updated: Feb 24, 2006On tap at Roman’s Pub. Reddish coppery clear body… thick creamy light tan head. This was an odd IPA… it had what I consider to be a thick, green, and hop-silo-aged fungal pine hop presence. I think I last recall this in the Three Floyds Thulza Doom. Stale hops… not "bottle aged", but warehouse aged. More balanced than the 3F brand though… more caramel and brown sugar sweetness made it easy to go down. LaChad (1375), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2002 More strongly hopped than their pale ale and it didn’t have the pale ale’s balance. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Had this beer on 2/19/2006. Aroma is faint yet unpleasant. Color is a nice light golden brown with good carbonation and tight head. Taste is hoppy and very bitter. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish comes on with a sharp hop flavor then a strong bitterness. This beer is a big disappointment compared to there Pale Ale, its just too unbalanced. All this said it is still drinkable and you get used to the strong bitterness after a few sips. ilovedarkbeer (1369), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Pours a deep amber color darker than most IPAs. Has hoppy taste with with a foamy white head. Aftertaste is very soapy. Not a very good IPA. JFGrind (1361), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2005 SN IPA has all the West Coast hoppiness you would expect in a Sierra Nevada ale. However this is a solid English style IPA that’s bitterness lies between a SNPA and a SNCA. I had my pint at 99 Bottles in Santa Cruz, CA. But I’m happy to see others have been sampling SN IPA on the East Coast. JohnnyJ (1356), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2007 A pretty standar, yet enjoyable IPA. Pour is an amber gold with a medium to small white head. Aroma of hops, a little sweet caramel malt, and grass. Flavor is bitter with a pretty good balance of malt and hops. Slightly bready.
