TKA300 (98), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Nov 7, 2009 Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of wheat beers, but this one was a pleasant surprise. And who better for it to come from than Sierra Nevada? It had a really deep flavor with the characteristic wheat aftertaste. It was very enjoyable. Super. haddon90 (1034), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Nov 5, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden color with a lacing head. Nice wheat and malt aroma. Smooth taste, with a nice sent of malt. Hint of banana with a sweet finish. Very refreshing beer from SN. Brewbie (217), New York, USA Nov 4, 2009 12oz bottle. cloudy light gold color, small lasting white head. great aroma of spices, cloves, some banana. tastes much the same, bananas, spices. nice spicy dry finish KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle at Flying Saucer, Houston. Pours an average thin yellow*orange with a semi-weak aroma of flat vlove and ripe banana. Flavor is lemony banana and clove, with a hint of sweet grass in the finish. Tingly on the tongue. Not bad but not memorable. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA Nov 1, 2009 Poured cloudy, lemony color with 1.5 finger head. Great smell, banana and clove...smells just like a good hefe. Taste is like the nose, nice banana and clove flavor, with the hops not really doing much except their job, just balancing everything out, finish starts a bit sweet, but dries out a bit. Smooth, almost creamy, full mouthfeel, that is really nice.
Overall this is a really good hefe, and for the price, I could see me picking this up over most of the others out there. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Nov 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy creamy yellow with a towering white head. Estery bubblegum and banana aroma. Estery, wheaty flavour, lots of banana and a little bubblegum, some lemony tartness in the finish. Surprisingly low spiciness. Nice and refreshing. bsp77 (191), Minnesota, USA Oct 31, 2009 Poured from bottle into my new Summit Pint, which is kind of shaped between a pint glass and a weizen glass.
Very hazy pale orange with nice head and active bubbles and legs.
Aroma is a nice mix of bananas and cloves, with some wheatiness.
Fantastic balance of wheat malt, bananas and cloves. Mostly spicy at the end. Most Hefeweizens lean more toward one aspect or another (wheat, banana, clove), but this really is evenly balanced.
High carbonation and light body - works well for this beer.
All around fantastic summer beer. Wheat beers don’t get much better (except for a couple German made Hefeweizens).
