COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Bottle... Poured a cloudy, vibrant golden/yellow/orange with a gorgeous white head, nice retention. This is a really authentic German weizen from Sierra Nevada. One of the best from the states. Floral, citrus and nice esters on the nose. Nice, dry palate. Flavors or orange peel, wheat and yeast esters and banana. Crisp finish. A joy to drink.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2010 bottle-I’ve really never been to much of a wheat fan at all but this one suprised the hell out of me..very nice taste, spicy cloves and bananna are very present, a little fruit and plenty of wheat to balance this out..For sure this is a nice Hefe with some depth and character, good job Sierra...

Pours a cloudy dark straw with two fingers of frothy white head that leaves sheeting lace in its wake. The nose is a solid hefe yeastiness complete with banana, rock candy and light clove over a round wheat body. The mouthfeel is soft and wheaty on the light side of medium-bodied (fairly full for the style) with a clean finish. The flavor is of sweet wheat with solid banana esters and supporting notes of clove and a crisp citric acidity that creates a staccato finish. This is easily the best widely distributed American-made hefe that I’ve sampled. Given their distribution and price point, I would think this beer is making some German brewers a bit nervous about their sales numbers, here in The States. This is the real deal.

Bottle: Pours a cloudy golden brass with a frothy clump of white head. Aroma of lightly sweet wheat and banana esters with some nice Bavarian yeasty notes. Body starts with good fullness, carbonation and light sweetness well balanced with a good clove spice and a hint of lemon citrus toward the crisp finish. Very drinkable and true to style. I hope this becomes a regular staple for Sierra Nevada.

Pours a hazy golden color with fluffy white head. Aroma of wheat and pale malts, banana, and yeast. Flavor was rich with wheat, pale malt, apricot, banana, and some citrus. Full flavored but light in body and very refreshing. Great for a day out on the beach or on the boat.

Deep hazy orange tinted golden coloured body with a frothy golden tan head - very nice in appearance! Aroma of pale wheat, yeast, coriander seed, apricots and a hint of juniper berries. Light-bodied; Super mellow wheat flavour with a cool coriander seed freshness, a curacao blast and a little bubble gum on the palate - nice and refined. Aftertaste shows mostly yeast, a bit of bread and a very mellow sweetness. Overall, this beer is very mild, but it works well for the style and the season - middle of summer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 11-June-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 19-July-2009.

Pours a cloudy golden hue with thick billowy white head that sustains well. Nose dominated by banana esters and clove phenols, hints of wheat and sweet fruit. Flavor follows suit, banana and fruit syrup sweetness up front balanced out by milder tones of cloves and grassy hops, finishes sweet. Medium-body with thick creamy texture, moderate carbonation. A complex and flavorful American hefe variant, texture may be a bit to thick and chewy for purists, bit overall delicious!

A solid hefeweizen for sure. Nice banana and clove aroma. Good wheat character. Crisp palate. Heavily sedimented. Perhaps slightly over carbonated, but in general a very enjoyable beer. And, for the price you can’t beat it.

Stop in to a Sunoco to get a pack of gum and you find this little gem on a shelf.....never seen it anywhere else. A really delicious Hefe from Sierra Nevada who I am continually impressed with, turning out large amounts of quality beer. Sweet, with subtle bananna, well balanced and spicey. Light-medium carbonation. If you find it pick up a six pack....you won’t be disappointed.
