COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Beautiful deep creamy head, golden color. intense aroma of citrus, lemony zest. Sweet creamy mouthfeel. Malt notes creeps by light crispness of the hops and wheat. Yes you have the typical banana notes but the fruit notes are kept at a minimum.Would go great with a peach cobbler or apple pie. Could this be my favorite new hefe.

Bottled. Cloudy yellow pour, foamy, dense white head. Lemony nose. Soft mouthfeel. Flavor is lemon meringue, banana, and cloves. A nicely hopped finish. Flavorful and refreshing.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2009 Bottle courtesy of drowland. Pours a very murky yellow-orange. Active head response. Aroma has fair amounts of banana, chalk and wheat qualities. First sip has quite a nice bit of spice to it, with the zip of citrus and softer fruit. Wheaty with a touch of fruit. Aftertaste lingers for a short while but fades faster than desired. All in all, me likey.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orange with a foamy 3 finger off-white head that results in spotty lacing. The nose is spicy yeast, citrus zest and malt. The taste is wheat, light bubblegum, spicy yeast and lemon zest with some sweet malt and light hops in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Freshing brew - very good. hefe.

A massive cream head covers a hazy golden beer. The aroma is sharp and spicy. Tangy and astringent. Too much wheat and spice.

Cloudy golden with creamy white head. Aroma of yeast and clove. Flavor of malty wheat, light clove and predominately banana - more so as it warms. Light body, adequate bitterness. Nicely done.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy beige color weizen with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of wheat malt with nice ester of banana and cloves. Taste is very refreshing with great notes of banana ester with subtle cloves and loads of wheat. Body is full with nice bottle conditioning and good carbonation. Very well done for the style with great refreshing factor – I think it is wonderful to keep this level of quality with the quantity of beer being brewed by this brewery.

Very nice nose with some banana sweetness, a bit of spice and some yeastiness. Pours a hazy light orange with a thin white head. Leaves nice lacing. Taste is initially sweet with a bit of spice and hop at the end. Very light and bubbly on the palate. A great offering from Sierra Nevada.

12 oz bottle purcahsed at Lukass in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is a very hazy, unfiltered orange yellow golden, with a foamy one inch white head that falls quick. Aroma of mildly sour wheat, muted bubblegum, and sweet banana esters. There is a nice clove element behind that. The nose is nice, though not terribly complex. Taste is sweet banana esters, big clove and bubble gum. The mild;y sour wheat from the nose is not present in the taste, and probably would have helped balance this out a bit. Also some apple fruit present. Palate is chewy medium, also notable unfiltered. Carbonation is low to medium, right for the style. This is a nicely drinkable hefe, though not terribly complex.

Everything in this beer is suitably done. It is just a plain but class beer. Often a beer with this sweet banna taste will have an overwhelming aroma but no Kellerwies. It is very clean and smooth.
