Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Bottle into weizen. Pours a hazy gold with a two finger, white, fluffy head that has good retention and leaves spotty lacing. Aroma of lemon zest, yeast, cloves, unripe bananas, but less pronounced than other hefeweizens. Flavor is sort of sour apricot, unripe bananas, slight nutmeg, yeast, malted wheat. Creamy on the palate. A little watery and cardboardy compared to Weihenstephaner or Ayinger versions. Not bad but in no way the groundbreaking American hefeweizen comeback. Fairly basic and lackluster.

I was disappointed. This was a pretty straight forward mass market hefe, not nearly as complex or as interesting as the best American or German versions. Cloudy pale gold to pale amber, big white head. Nose of wheat, yeast, lemon and banana. Matched in the taste. Opened a Franziskaner for comparison and found it much more interesting.

Bottle sample at the Brevard Beer Fest Definately one of the best hefeweizen out there. It has what you would expect in a hefeweizen with a large head, banana and citrus aroma, fruity and yeast taste with a tough of bitterness in the finish, but Sierra Nevada made every component better and came up with a winner.

From a bottle poured a hazy straw color with a fair amount of head. Nice light sweet fruity malty flavor with a quick finish. Very drinkable.

jazzed to try this.. .. seems traditional .. . pours with a creamy head .. . straw haze .. . decent mouthfeel .. . decent stuff but it didn’t quite mesh well with all the other stuff going on .. . would love to try this on tap! .. . I like how a Duck’s opinion of me severely depends on whether I may or may not have bread!

bottle... pours a deep hazy golden with a nice white head... rock solid hefeweizen... big thanks to Sierra Nevada for crafting such a great beer in this style.... I’m typically not a big hefeweizen fan, but this one has got some serious character... big banana, malt driven, citrus laced aroma... solid body with some spice and light fruit notes... sweet, slightly bitter with a touch of yeast... excellent and very enjoyable after work....

Poured a hazy yellow-gold with a medium sized off-white head and good lasting time. Malty aroma with some banana and yeasty notes. Light citrusy lemon as well. Wheaty lemon flavor with some clove spice in the middle and finish. Heavier than I thought it would be but I drank the whole six pack anyway.

Surprisingly true to the style. Bright & hazy gold pour. Fluffy off white head and drippy lace. Spicy sweet aroma. Citrus, yeast and light gum. Dry finish. Clean and refreshing
