COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

12 oz bottle shared by durwoodx. Thanks Darrell! Pours a hazy golden yellow with hints of orange and fading bone white lacing. Aroma is yeast, bread and citrus notes. Flavor is soft and slightly tangy. Wheat, lemon and pleasant vegetal grassiness. Great example of the style.

Transfer from BA review on 5-19-12- Poured from bottle into weizen glass Appearance – Pours a very hazy light yellow-orange/golden color. There is a billowing white head that is formed upon pouring. The head has a good persistence and fades to leave a good level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heavy of banana, yeast, and pepper; very classic Hefeweizen. Mixed with three three stronger previously mentioned aromas is a lighter citrus aroma in the background. Taste – A lemon citrus and bready flavor meets the tongue. These are soon meet with flavors of yeast, which bring with it a flavor of banana and pepper. The banana is light, but the pepper gets stronger and stronger as the taste advances. Other spices and some sweeter citrus flavors then work their way in toward the end, with the pepper and yeast taking big command of the taste. In the end it has a very yeasty, peppery and citrusy flavor. Mouthfeel – A medium thickness in body and an average level of carbonation. Nothing too special here. Overall – Not bad, but nothing too spectacular either. Easy to drink but nothing special.

350ml bottle, pours golden brown with a white head and a lot of haze in the glass. aroma is wheat malt, grasssy with a little spice and honey. Finish is dry and balanced. Good hefeweizen but not as full bodied as some of the best.

350ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes, Tromsø. Served comfortably chilled. Steady bubbling, white head. A wheat haze to a golden coloured body. Moderate aroma of spiced wheat. Mixed taste of clove, citrus and ripe banana on a backbone of wheat. Drying yeast to the ending. Feels a bit thin on the swallow. Fresh, and a fair version of the style, not overly sweet (at home 06.06.2014).

@Basunen: Stor, trevlig doft av vete och banan. Smaken är lite söt med tydlig tuttifrutti och en fin len underton. En underbar mjuk veisen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!
