COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

This is an excellent hefeweizen. Sierra Nevada does a great job with this one. Nice and sweet, well balanced. Sweet bready taste, like almost banana bread. Great stuff overall and super easy to drink.

12 oz bottle poured into a hefe glass. Big banana and clove notes greet the nose along with a touch of dampness / bread dough, and wheat. I also pick up, distinctly, "Nila wafers" - basically a combination of the banana, with some biscuit, and vanilla. There’s also a light floral touch and some pine in the aroma. A big, hefe spongy creamy white head tops the opaque hazy gold yellow body. The head retains quite well and leaves a messy, poofy lace. I would say this is a pretty shining example of what a hefe should look like. The taste is a medium sweet and medium light bitter with just a touch of sour. The body is somewhere between medium and light, maybe more on the light side and has a thin, watery texture. There’s a surprisingly low amount of soft carbonation - or maybe it’s just so soft that I can’t feel it - nonetheless, it’s very smooth. There’s a big banana and clove finish which starts to turn more towards clove and vanilla in the aftertaste with a touch of pine and tropical fruit.
