COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

A pretty standard hefeweizen. Smells a bit skunky when poured. Finish is a little more bitter than I normally like in this category.

Bottle. A- Wheat, citrus, banana, spices. A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Wheat, banana, citrus, spices, yeasty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- A good Hefeweizen that has a deep enough complexity that no one thing stands out above the rest. Balanced well and would be easy to session.

tfredvik (1078) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 31, 2014
Cloudy medium yellow body with a very large, creamy, white head that stays thick and laces the glass well. Dry, very spicy, yeasty, fruity and rather strong aroma with lots of delicious banana. Strong flavour that is initially dominated by coriander and a generic spicy feel mixed with honey, then yeasty banana, citrus and other fruits. Not much sweetness or bitterness, but quite dry and with some acidity. Unusually citric, refreshing and crisp mouthfeel, it’s light on the palate and lively carbonated. The perfect summer wheat beer!

Bottle. Sour, awful beer. Searched hard to find something appealing, but to no avail. A style not for me.

It has sweet and fresh aroma of green grapes and light malt . The appearance is bright and cloudy with minimal head. The taste is pleasant and lightly balanced with a fine fizzy carbonation.

Notes from Family Hefe Tasting. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head. Aroma has spices and pickles. Taste was led by pickles or vinegar or some other tangy spice. Some vegetalness as well. 11.2 This was the highest finishing American Hefe in the tasting; but only finished midpack overall.

TH28 (103) - - JUL 25, 2014
Appearance is cloudy deep yellow/light golden with a frothy thick white foam cap. Aroma is typical spicy clove, banana, and bubblegum. Taste is bready malt with spicy clove that stands out, but also has a slight metallic taste. Banana character is there, but stands down to the clove. Mouthfeel is medium for the style with moderate carbonation. Not as creamy as most examples. Finishes extremely dry on the tongue with lingering clove spice. Overall good, but lacks the creamy body of it’s German counterparts and seems to have a slight metallic taste

Tiheä vaahto, samea, vaaleankeltainen väri. Paljon banaania tuoksussa ja maussa. Suutuntuma jää jälkeen saksalaisverrokeista.

Pours a cloudy golden orange with big just-off-white foam head that retains well. Banana aroma and some malts and faint citrus. Taste balanced sweetness and bitter. Vibrant carbonation. Finish slightly sweet.
