Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2013 12oz Bottle. The Pour was a hazy amber yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white foamy head that lasted throughout and produced fair streaky lacing. The aroma was a light grain malt and a mild doughy yeast with notes of banana, citrus (lemon), a bit of coriander and a hint of vanilla. The taste was slightly bitter and rather yeasty with a hint of citrus pretty much throughout, with the finish having a slight spiciness towards the end. The flavor was short lived with a mild citrusy yeast taste fading quickly from the taste buds. Mouthfeel was light in body with a thin creamy texture and a medium carbonation. Overall this was a really good Hefeweizen, with a nice creamy yeasty taste and a good drinkability. This is a brew that I will definitely drink again, especially on one of those extremely hot summer days...

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a white head. Wheat, banana, clove, and bubblegum aroma. Wheat, banana, clove, bubblegum and lemon flavors. Light body and average carbonation. Clove and wheat finish. Solid.

Lastin foamy white head atop a cloudy Amber brown body. Nose is sweet, tonic and wheats. Nice mellow mouthfeel, more German malt presence - as I would have expected an American Wheat. I suppose the Kellerweis should have been a giveaway. Somewhat light on the bubblegum - but it's a smooth and easy drinking Hefeweizen. Sampled at the Moon Under Water.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry. Nice cloudy appearance. Aroma if clove, banana. A touch of vinegar too. Tasty, pretty ripe banana dominated taste with a touch more bitterness than your usual hefe. Slightly sour. Good mouthfeel though, still good. Decent.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Taste banana, sweet, wheat. I thought this was pretty good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The appearance fuses an opaque golden color with a large, pillowy white head that fades fast. The aroma blends wheat, banana, and a hint of green apples, and the taste is slightly sour and slightly sweet with a heavy wheat flavor being present. The thick texture, medium body, and soft carbonation aren’t anything special or wild, but they do help support the flavor that comes through. The finish has a slightly grainy flavor, but it does fade into a nice sweet thickness on the tongue over some time.

A cloudy orange appearance on the pour with a good, foamy head. A beautiful orange flavour with a malty finish. I could easily drink quite a few of these.

Pours pale yellow with medium white head. Aroma of bread, citrus, banana, very plain. Taste is more of the same, with excessively high carbonation. Even the cheapest Hefeweizen in Germany has more flavor than this.

This must be an acquired taste by Americans for a fizzy, candy Weis beer. It doesn’t compare with anything traditional in the Bavarian Weizen family. Sierra Nevada has done a good job in marketing to the taste of the coeds in Chico. And this one is an American invention.
