Irish Stouts just aren’t my thing. What can I say. But for being an Irish Stout, SN here did quite a good job. Really smooth, light flavors, and easy to toss back.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of roasted malts with caramel and chocolate notes. Pours a creamy rich black with a handsome finger tan head and abundant lacing. The taste is chocolate with carmel notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Smooth round mouthfeel. Overall, easy to drink and very tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had on at the Grog. $6.50 for the full pint. Pours a mahogany-tinted, oily dark brown with which an off-white head 1 finger in length stood. Tastes and smells of Marlboro tobacco, grill char, cherry tomatoes, and Bible paper. Lightly herbal and bittersweet. But it was unquestionably too watery and uninteresting. A decent replacement for Guinness, but I see that as its only achievement.

See through dark brown color with a thick white head. Dark but skunky smells. Creamy nutty smooth texture, a tiny bit too thin.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
10 ounce sample on tap at the brewery. The aroma is mild with cellar-like character and some metallic notes. Not too much else here. Rather transparent dark mahogany body with a strong, persistent nitrogenated cream-colored head. Nice lacing, of course. Starts with a light cocoa powder flavoring. Becomes a little toasty in the middle. Light roast follows later along with some metallic flavors. Chalk in the finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is about as good as most nitro stouts I have had. Big fluffy head, black liquid. A bit of roatsy malt aroma, moderately bitter but well balanced flaor. Velvety smooth. Very good.

tap at the Chico brewpub Aug 2013 - Pours very dark brown with a thick, lingering light tan head. It has a mild roast malt aroma. The flavor is light with chocolate notes and a somewhat dry, roasted finish. It has light, smooth nitro carbonation. This beer is alright. It could be better.
