Sampled over the weekend at the Rogue Ale House. A super beer. Talk about appearance and palate to the max. So smooth and as close to a guiness appearance as I have seen in a long time. Smooth roasted flavors were another fantastic part.

Poured black with a solid, though not thick, head, excellent retention and lacing. Roasted malt aroma and flavors, with a slight bitterness. Some coffee and chocolate as well, if you look for it. Creamy mouthfeel, minimal carbonation, light body and a roasty finish.

Draught. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate creamy light tan head. Almost no smell on this with the head. Taste has some grsat roasting and crackers with just a hint of chocolate. Pretty decent.

Tap at Max’s. Pours clear black with a large, creamy beige head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, earthy hops and coffee. Flavor is dark malt dominant, light earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Irish Stouts just aren’t my thing. What can I say. But for being an Irish Stout, SN here did quite a good job. Really smooth, light flavors, and easy to toss back.

Aroma of roasted malts with caramel and chocolate notes. Pours a creamy rich black with a handsome finger tan head and abundant lacing. The taste is chocolate with carmel notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Smooth round mouthfeel. Overall, easy to drink and very tasty.

Had on at the Grog. $6.50 for the full pint. Pours a mahogany-tinted, oily dark brown with which an off-white head 1 finger in length stood. Tastes and smells of Marlboro tobacco, grill char, cherry tomatoes, and Bible paper. Lightly herbal and bittersweet. But it was unquestionably too watery and uninteresting. A decent replacement for Guinness, but I see that as its only achievement.

On tap at Capitol Beer &Tap Room. Pours dark brown with a rich tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a very dry dark molasses flavor with a slightly bitter finish.
