Regional specialty beer-style brewed in and around the town of Köln. Cold-fermented, light bodied ale. Golden color, low in alcohol with a distinct smoothness that makes this a very refreshing summertime offering.

Pours a clear pale golden with a pretty big and fluffy white head. Aroma is subtle citrus and grass. Taste is sweet pale malt, grassiness, bread and very mild hops. Great interpretation of the style.

Bottle from Blackrock cellar. Pours clear gold. Excellent clarity. Bread, yeast, some estery fruit a little diacethnyl. Flavour is biscuit with a crisp clean finish. Looks great and is an exemplary example of style.

Pours basically clear straw golden with a fairly tall eggshell head that settles to a foamy ring and leaves some killer foamy and delicate lace. Nose involves bread dough toward sourdough, lightest noble hop spice, crisp clean grassy florals. Hardly sweet, fairly bitter. Light to medium bodied, active, clean, crisp, finishing on the dry side with dough and light hop oils. Really nice quaffable brew. I don’t know if they’re doing mixed packs of cans yet, but this needs to be in a can. Really digging it.

Bottle at home. Clear yellow, effervescent. Crackery, grassy aroma. The flavor is saltine crackers, grassy hops, big fat creamy round palate. Good.

Crystal clear pale yellow with a sudsy, persistent white head. Clean cracker malt aroma with a little corn sweetness in the back. More light, crisp maltiness in the flavor. A nice, dry, grassy bitterness follows that is right on style (maybe a bit heavy, but this is SN after all). Body is refreshingly light but also creamy on the tongue. Finishes light, dry, clean and refreshing with a light bitterness that lingers. Great take on the Kolsch style.

Bang on the style, but A tad metallic. Yellow bodied. smooth mouthfeel. No aroma. Nothing too special. Super fresh is always best with this style.

12 oz bottle...pours a clear pale gold with pure white head. Biscuity taste pairs well with spicy noble hops. Clean, dry and delicious.

Honestly, I’m not really sure what a Kolsch is supposed to taste like. Is it fruity? Dry? I thought I knew, but maybe I don’t. Anyhoo, this was dry and crisp, no off flavors, lots of crusty bread aromas and flavors with a dry, woody finish. I liked it.
