12 oz bottle...pours a clear pale gold with pure white head. Biscuity taste pairs well with spicy noble hops. Clean, dry and delicious.

Honestly, I’m not really sure what a Kolsch is supposed to taste like. Is it fruity? Dry? I thought I knew, but maybe I don’t. Anyhoo, this was dry and crisp, no off flavors, lots of crusty bread aromas and flavors with a dry, woody finish. I liked it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A steady pour produces a one-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a bright golden color that shows a brilliantly clear, pale golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of bright lemony hops, pale cracker like malt, sun-baked hay, a touch of lightly herbal hop character; this smells like summer, bright, clean, and dried.
Soft, pale malt notes coat the palate nicely without any heavy feeling, the beer then finishes with a light, clean bitterness, and a lingering, dried straw like character, as well as a bit of cracker like grain. Herbal hop note lead here, with a supporting lemon zest note being just noticeable; a reversal from the aroma. This has a soft, rounded, ester / fruit character that separates it from a Pilsner, and the malt character is dialed back a bit as well. The carbonation provides quite a bit of zip and texture to match the lighter body of this beer.
This is actually a really nice, certainly fresh, example of a Kolsch, perhaps a touch hoppier than it should be, but that only makes this better in my eyes. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I am.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I reckon this is a pretty solid blond ale. It’s clear and golden yellow w/ only a small ring of head. The nose here is mild but pleasant, kind of a smattering of grassy and citric hops. The flavor has real hop bite to it though w/o being overdone or harsh, which makes for a very crisp drinking beverage. This is just a touch sweet which brings out some lemon notes, medium bodied w/ vigorous carbonation--again lending to crisp drink-ability. I am not sure I would call this 100% to style or anything like that but it does achieve what I hope for a Koelsch to achieve, which is it’s a very flavorful and drinkable blond ale. I’d be happy to drink this all summer if there were sixers of it at my grocery store.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of sweet bread, notes of lemon and sweet grains. Nice light yellow color with a pillowy white head. Nice sweet breads/malt up front. Rich. Slightly peppery bitterness is next with nice bite that fades nicely. Light to medium mouth feel with perfect carbonation. Finish has an echo of the peppery bitterness. Nice version of the style.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours clear gold with a thin white. Aroma of hops. Taste of citrus and hops. Haven’t had a lot of kolsch style ales but I figure this one is okay.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of light sweet grain and cereal notes with hints of apple and a touch of straw. It pours a transparent gold with a one finger white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with very mild sweet cereal and grain notes. The finish has light cracker with a touch of grass/straw. It’s light bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, a nice sessionable lawnmower beer.
