For a stout beer with this high alcohol content. I would say itís pretty damn good for those who like stout beer with a kick.

Loves the molasses in the smell and the front of the taste. Fantastic color for a RIS with a fine palate. Just a good beer all around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - black beer with no head. Thick like oil. Nice sweetish cherry aroma. Strong and almost complex flavour. Dry. Medium bitterness.

Bottle. Overtoned on the hops not gonna talk it down too much, but itís not high quality. Having said that its worth a drink if you like the stouts. Moral of the story donít expect the best but its drinkable and enjoyable.

2013 bottle drunk on 1/25/14
Large grey-beige head recedes to one finger atop a not quite opaque drab brown body.
Itís funny but I smell more Chico yeast in the nose than I do any actual imperial stout notes. Itís like this yeast is too efficient for its own good. Some light PNW hops (pine) and a touch of alcohol but certainly nothing of a rich or deep Impy here. (was about to say, "nothing wrong with it, though" but Iím sick of saying that. There are too many good beers to just be making beers that are simply "not bad").
In the mouth, itís well-attenuated, with light chocolate, simple roast and hints of coffee. Alcohol is a little bit rampant, and the carbonation is not particularly tight, leading to a loose, watery finish, with too much alcohol burn. Hop acids are at least minimal, though felt. Itís like they took SNPA, added some roasted malt, some more hops and upped the grain bill. Not my cup of tea. Did not finish a 12oz bottle.

Wonderful aroma is present with this stout poured on draft at Yogis in Bloomington IN. A very straight forward stout with a well balanced taste and finish. A great standard for all imperial stouts to judge themselves by. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beast is jet black, inky black. Dark tan head. Aroma is cocoa, licorice, coffe, roasted malts, and some ETOH. Thick, creamy, full mouthfeel. Taste is strong malts, mild bitterness. A beast of a stout, I like it.

Opaque, tall and lasting tan head. Attractive, moderate nose with the aroma of fresh coffee. Alcoholic burn, full body and intense roast and alcohol flavor, surprizingly lean body after mousse extinguishes itself, good length. Predominantly roast bitterness, which disguises abundant sweetness. Excellent, rich but not cloying stout. Coffee liqueur flavor, ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle at Monks Kaffee in Dubuque Iowa. Black with flat head. Light coffee aroma. The taste is hard to describe - a ton going on in this one. A slight fruity cherry taste wrapped around a malty cocoa oily creamy and coffee monster. A pile of. happiness. The high ABV is well hidden. Really good beer. Best Sierra Nevada I've had

This has a nice sweet and toasty, beguiling aroma that hides the bite the flavor has. It's only a bit hot but still pretty tasty with some malty and hoppy goodness. It's nice and smooth on the tongue too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
