Bottle at home from drinkstore
Very dark brown with dark tan lacing. Rich roast barley and sweet cocoa. Full bodied, light carbonation, sweet, rich malt, dry toast, touch of lactose perhaps. Dry roasty malt, fairly abrupt, boozy but still light in the mouth. Rich but one dimensional

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Vicously black with a quick failing mocca coloured head. Nose is mostly hops, dark berries, soy and leather. The tase is down the same line, sweet but not overtly cloying. Soy, leather, dark berries and some hops. Very nice and rich mouthfeel. This is for sure the best beer I’ve had from Sierra Nevada!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355 ml bottle.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, some roasted malts, sweetish chocolate and faint sugary notes. Flavor of licorice, roasted malts, chocolate, some caramel and mild ashy notes. A bit sweet sticky palate, lingering roasty finish. Some alcohol burn at the end, but nothing disturbing. Quite heavy stuff.

2013 vintage. pours very dark brown with a small yet persistent creamy beige head showing some nice lacing patterns. burnt malts - overdone, strong coffee, smokiness, lots of blackberries along with roasted-like acidity, very ashy and almost powdery ashes, resin, molasses with their minerals, earthy. moderate to low carbonation, medium body - oily but not cloying, harsh resinous-bitter-coffee-mineral finish. boozy. not what i’m seeking for in a ris. Aroma has cocoa, salty licorice and some herbal tones. Also hints of semi-dark chocolate. Flavour has salty licorice, some ashy tones, herbs and some semi-dark chocolate. Also distant coffee notes. Rich and smooth palate. Perhaps a bit too salty but rather nice still.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle, 0.355 l - 2013 vintage, from Systembolaget, 20140222) The beer poured black. Its head was quite large, light brown and it lasted long time. Aroma had hops, roasted malts and liquorice. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sweetness, hops, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice and bitterness. Not an unsual imperial stout but the long aftertaste was nice: it avoided too intense burntness.
