Narwhal Imperial Stout is the latest beer in Sierra Nevada’s High Altitude Series. This malt-forward monster is bold – with notes of baker’s cocoa, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

12oz bottle pours dark black, looks thick and has a dark brown head quick to dissolve. Smells richly of chocolate, sugary and alcohol heavy for sure. Has an alcohol heavy feel as well with a little burn and certainly some warm in your chest. Has elements of chocolate and cofee for sure, the molasses gives a sugary element to battle the alcohol. Overall a heavy stout not bad tasting and probably well aged.

Deep black pour with a thick creamy head. The nose is roasty and a little bit fruity. Plum and a little bit of cherry along with some black licorice. Roasty and delicious. Rich and balanced. Pretty solid impy stout.

En flaska från 2013. Förvånade snäll i förhållande till vad jag förväntade mig. Lagringen? Svart som synden som sig bör!

(Bottle). Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and some alcohol. Deep brown complexion with tan head and lots of glass lacing. Flavor is well roasted with bakers cocoa and just a bit of alcohol. Perfect choice for the first night of the season below 30 degrees F. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with finger of tan head. Nose is coffee beans, roast, chocolate. Taste has an oatmeal/cereal grain thing going on, sweet upfront, chocolate, coffee beans. Super smooth. Almost a bit of a dried fruit note adding to the sweetness. Really quite good.

On tap at the Growler Station @ Albertson’s. Dark and heady, smooth despite the elevated ABV. Initial high, fluffy beige head. Sweet dark roast malts, hints of dark chocolate, a little alcohol on the nose, and definite warmth at the finish. Velvety and slick. Worth seeking out.

Bottle to beer tulip. 2014 brew. Pour is cola brown with a one finger beige head. Aroma is dark coffee and dark chocolate. The coffee is light. Taste is dark chocolate, malt, and a tiny bit of dark roast coffee. The finish is somewhat slick and mildly carbonated. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Oily black with no head. Aroma of cocoa, oats, malt. Subtle coffee. Taste is the same. Rich and complex. Warming, dry finish. Excellent imperial Stout.

This is one of the best standard Imperial Stouts on the market. Black pour with a dark tan head. Smooth coffee and chocolate with roast bitterness balancing out.
