Narwhal Imperial Stout is the latest beer in Sierra Nevada’s High Altitude Series. This malt-forward monster is bold – with notes of baker’s cocoa, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

The Narwhal pours opaque black with an orange rim, essentially motor oil. The bouquet intermixes prunes, dark chocolate, dried figs, cherry cordials and Chambord. Absurdly rich and thick, it gives new definition to "full-bodied." The palate boasts bitter with espresso grounds, fermented fruit and chocolate bars with 85% cocoa! Admirably complex but overbearing, unapproachable. ---- instagram.com/pintofbitter

Very nice imperial stout. Smooth and slightly sweet. Again SN makes a beer that is approachable yet not boring. Well done.

Pours a four finger tan head that slowly fades leaving a good lace. Black color, no highlights. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Roasted coffee nose and flavor is roasted coffee, higher ABV is hidden. $2.60 for a 12oz bottle from a Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, ME.

ROGUE (2152) - Newark, Delaware, USA - DEC 23, 2013
12oz bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a thick light espresso head and light lacing. Smell of cocoa, espresso, some dark fruitiness, and alcohol. Taste of cocoa and coffee lead the way with more dark fruit than burnt molasses, making this not as sweet as other Imperial Stouts. Finish is a lasting char, smoke, roast and hops. Very smooth and creamy, medium body, lighter carbonation.
