3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: † Black, thin beige head, spotty lacing. † Heavily roasted nose, slight dark chocolate. † Dry and bitter up front, roasty, bakers chocolate background. † Malty, roasty, pale sweetness, strong bitter chocolate on the backside. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † A very robust Imperial Stout, but not as thick or rich as I expected. † Very big for your every day Stout, but Imperial? † Finishes slightly dry, bitter chocolate, roasty, with a moderate hop bite. † Nothing out of the ordinary, but fairly solid. † Bigger than many in the 12oz container.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a brandy snifter. Poured a dense black with a khaki colored head that quickly dissipated. The aroma has notes of mocha, marshmallow, roasty, and malty bitterness. Taste is very roasty and on the verge of smoke. Hefty.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a huge creamy dark brown head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was sweetish black licorice, floral hops and a bit of roasty malts. The flavor was semi sweet and very roasty with strong notes of black licorice and floral hops and hints of coffee and Bakers chocolate. Long finish that was bitter and roasty with lingering floral hops and anise. Moderately full bodied and the alcohol was fairly well hidden. Well done.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Absolutely black pour. Dark brown head. Aroma is roasted, no surprise there. Flavor is bitter, roasted, little chocolate. I donít get any licorice, which I am thankful for. Donít really dig that in a stout these days. Itís somewhat dry, but certainly heavy on the palate. Itís really a nice stout. Better from the bottle than draft. Maybe it was the bar I was at. But, still great stuff. One of SN finest offerings, if youíre asking me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with an inch of dense tan head and dissipates fairly quickly and leaves a few lines of lacing. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is very rich, with chocolate and coffee notes. It starts out slightly sweet and then turns slightly bitter, but overly pretty well balanced and very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Well for an íImperialí it holds aloft a lot of tannish foam - a good two fingers worth that messes up the glass well. Typically opaque and black as night but with little evidence of bottle conditioning. Smoky, deep, roasted malt and piney, camphorous hop nose with inklings of cola, molasses and scorched berries. Viscous, thick and smooth on the palate. Lovely mouthfeel and it holds that alcohol well spruiking up only in the lack of being able to physically stand up after a Schooner. Lots of smoke and scorched berry skins lasting after each swallow amongst a mocha, bitter chocolate back end with light hop bitterness aiding. Front end is simplistic, pleasing deep malts that are residually sweet. Very deceiving stuff; would love if it held that alcohol proud. Too easy to drink it may as well be a sweet, session stout. I like it; I donít,. Completely split, but might crack another if I can get myself up!!! (12fl,Oz. 2012 bottling, Cellarbrations Carlisle)
