Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma of roast, soy, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is moderate sweet, heavy roast with dark chocolate, tar and charcoal. Smooth thick oily mouthfeel. Lingering light bitter finish, lovely

Flaske hos Ole Anders juni-13: cremeskum over en velduftende, sort væske. Cremet mundfylde, so smooth. Kaffe, sjokolade og alt jeg trenger. Litt salt og humlebitterhet i kledelig antrekk. Smaskegod. Heldigvis er ettersmaken laaaang.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some coffee/chocolate/mollasses notes, plus light dough and hops. Flavor the same. Average to smooth texture. Not bad but not the best.

Bottlle. Chocolate, coffee, malt alcohol aroma. Dark brown color with nice small tan head. Chocolate and coffee. Alcohol burn takes away from finish and palate.

355 ml bottle, 2012 Vintage. Pitch black with a thin, light tan head. Roasted aroma with dark chocolate, coffee, dried sweet fruits, licorice and hard roasted malts. Taste is sweet. Full body, thick texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes sweet with hard roasted malts, bitter chocolate, licorice and a hint of alcohol. Very straightforward Imperial Stout, well balanced as rest of the Sierra Nevada beers.

12 oz poured into a snifter. A - Black as the deep sea with a healthy cappuccino head that has plenty of staying power. The head forms a micro bubbled ceiling with a creamy uniform collar. S - Deeply roasted malts, dark chocolate, underlying mint leaf, cold espresso, hard root beer candy. Smoke and perfumy alcohol come out as it warms. T - Creamy and dense chocolate malts, espresso, toasted cocoa, cooked pine sap, bitterness seems to come from the coaco and the pine hops. Smokiness comes out as it warms. The finish is bitter, roasty, and very satisfying. M - Creamy, silky, full bodied, low carbonation. Sierra Nevada brings it Like a Boss. This is fresh and bursting with raw but perfect flavors for a fresh Impy. I would drink this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! For the price point, It’s a no-brainer. I will be buying ALOT of this. Thanks again Ken! Serving type: bottle 11-09-2012

Black beer with a dark wonderful head. Strong, distinct aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Also with a slight malt sweetness and a hint of mollasses with some liquorice. Fantastic flavour of dark chocolate and coffee with a strong, good coffee/cocoa bitterness. Smooth, full body. You feel the taste of the alcohol in it as a slight sting.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a pitch black with nice tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malts, vanilla, cocoa and some burnt notes. Taste is espresso, roasted coffee and a stickiness that lingers in your mouth. Can only slightly taste the alcohol. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Vestergaard (452) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - JUN 17, 2013
Pours black with a fluffy light brown head. Looks pretty thick when whirled. smell is packed with chocolate, coffee and is really nicely burned. not too sweet, but some dark berries though. a slight licorice too. The taste is pretty bitter with some dark dark chocolate at first, followed up by a nice dark roasted coffee. Some fruit i can’t really specify, but maybe blueberries or plum? Fits very well with the chocolate at least. Dry in a wooden or vinous way, but it’s still a full bodied fella.

Pours black with a tiny brown head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, cocoa beans, mellow chocolate fudge, dark sweet berries, coffee and some vanilla. Taste of bitter liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, some darker berries, warming alcohol at the end and a bit dry woody feel to it even though it is not barrel aged. Really enjoyable (for the price as well).
