This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pitch black, with a big, creamy, brown head. Milk chocolate, syrup, cinnamon, and some herbal/resinous hops. Very sweet, with just a touch of burnt bitterness and some light hopping. Heavy body, creamy, and smooth, but with a sticky and bitter aftertaste. This is a nice, well made, and tasty stout, but nothing unique.

Pitch black, clear liquid with a beigebrown, fluffy, two finger high head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Nose: Red fruit, coffe, roasted malt, chocolate and spice. Taste: A really great, hoppy, taste! Newly brewed coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar and pine, Medium body with just a little carbonation. Almoust no taste of alcohol, and it’s 10.2 % ABV! Great work Sierra Nevada!

UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 Bottle, 2013 vintage. Thanks Sebastian! Pours black with a small dark brown head, rests down to a thin film. Dark chocolate, lots of roasted malt and coffee as well as some vanilla in aroma. Very dark bitter chocolate, rye bread, lots of roasted malt but not overpowering anything else. Slight alcohol heat at the end. Smooth mouth feel, full bodied, low carbonation. Roasted bitter after taste with a slight alcohol bite.

Cocoa in the aroma, pours a deep black with minimal head retention. Booze, peppers/chiles, roast, cocoa. Not for me

Coffee and chocolate dominate this taste with very little carbonation. It has a mild bitterness and alcohol with the finish. Pretty good overall.

12 oz bottle. There is a lot going on here. Aroma of vegetable stock and chocolate. Tastes vaguely chocolatey, then coffee, licorice and alcohol. Maybe that?s a good progression, but it seems kind of like a dark mess to me.

Bottle from Woodmans in Waukesha. Pours an opaque black with a brown head leaving some nice lace. Aroma has cocoa, molasses, lightly burnt spices and some hoppy presence. Taste is of heavy roast, some molasses and bakers chocolate, some pine and perhaps cinnamon. Medium to full bodied and slightly dry. Finishes bittersweet and roasty. Very nice solid - surprising, a bit, from SNevada.

Wow. How have I not had this before? Bottle from a four pack. Aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and malt. Pours black black black with blackness and a tan sticky foamy head. Taste is dark with roasted coffee, semi-dark chocolate and just a hint of dark fruit and licorice. This is big and roasty and damn near perfect. It gets a little sweet and boozy towards the end but by then, I don’t care.
