4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
I was really surprised with how excellent this Sierra Nevada seasonal was, especially given the price ($8 for a 4-pack). It compares really favorably to well know big stouts like Old Rasputin and Founders Breakfast, and coasts 30% less. Jet black, heady pour. At the correct temperature (just a little colder than room temps) the nose is all coffee and chocolate and roasted wheat. It has a very bold coffee-focused flavor that gives way to a sweet dark chocolate malt. The body is thick and oily. Fantastic stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
black colour, moderate brown head; aroma of coffee, berries and sourness; taste of fark chocolate, coffee, with some well hidden alcohol and spicy bitter aftertaste; despite that I don’t like stouts, I have to admit that it is a brilliant imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 Release. thick, motor oil black. Minimal dark head that dissipates. Great roasted, bitter chocolate on the nose. The flavor carries a lot of the bakery’s chocolate character like the bottle says, but there’s an interesting bitter character, and a lot of roast flavors going on too. The aftertaste is all bitter cocoa. This is a great imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Definitely hoppy on the aroma.
VERY hoppy in the taste to start, roasted coffee and malt in the aftertaste. Alcohol well hidden, but there is something that tells me this is a strong beer. I think it's the strong, strong aroma of hops. Also the strong hoppy taste, which is actually sensational. Baker's cocoa lastingly present; feels like I've had a spoon of cocoa on my tongue. Smooth beer. Not too much carbonation. Thin dark tan head that has disappeared quickly. Minimal lacing.
Went super with a thick, creamy Belgian chocolate mousse.
