355ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a medium tan head, which lasts very well and leaves good lacing. The aroma is almost Scotch-like, with iodine and warm alcohol, as well as dark chocolate and some pine hops. Pine hops up front lead into bitter dark chocolate and strong espresso, with bitter cocoa in the mid-palate. The finish is full of warm roasted malt, with a lingering bittersweet aftertaste. This is a lovely imperial stout. It is weighty yet well-balanced, rich and warming, and to top it all off features a fantastic label design!

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout has a thick, creamy, tan head, lots of thick lacing left on the glass, and a very dark brown appearance. The aroma is of dark-roasted malt, and the taste is of black bread, chocolate, coffee, licorice, toffee, charcoal, bitterness, and black cherries. The mouthfeel is thick and velvety, and Narwhal Imperial Stout finishes semi-dry, heavy, warming, and smooth. Overall, this is an outstanding beer, and I recommend it in the strongest way! RJT

2012 Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout poured aggressively into snifter. The beer is pitch black, no light coming through. It produced a nice dark khaki head of tight little bubbles. The nose comes off as chocolate, bittersweet chocolate. Coffee notes, roasted barley, dark fruits of cherries and raisins. Sweet smelling, caramel malts and a hint of alcohol. At the front of the palate there is a nice bitterness of espresso and hops, this rolls into chocolate and alcohol across the middle of the palate, some dark fruits and then finishes with a bit of chocolate that mellows the palate. As it warms the alcohol becomes more noticeable on the nose and taste. and the coffee seems to become more prevalent. This beer is a bit bitter, should cellar very nicely.

Draft. Deep black . Half inch thick creamy tan head. Beautiful lacing. Taste is full bodies with an old ale quality. Reminds me of the life and limb. Delicious and better IMO ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jet black color with nose of chocolate and coffee. Velvety texture with a heavy roasted malt taste with a bite of hop bitterness. Minor alcohol on finish. Easy drinking impy.

Poured pitch black into generic snifter with small brown head. Aroma is roasty chocolate, and more roasted chocolate. Flavor follows with bittersweet chocolate and a very nice roasted finish. Extremely smooth with just the right carbonation. Thick but easy drinking. Like velvet. I would compare this closely with Oaked Yeti, with less sweetness and more bittersweet. This is a phenomenal brew feom SN. Easily rank this above some of the more hyped impies. I really canít find anything wrong with this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a near black with light tan foamy head. Aroma of dark roasted malt and black licorice. Taste is sweet with caramel notes giving way to a bitter peppery finish. Robust and filling. Couldn't have more than one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
