November 2012. From bottle. Pours black with a beige head. The alcohol is very present throughout. Coffee, dark roasted malts and chocolate aromas. Very rich.

Really good, if a little too boozy aftertaste. Got accused of slurring tonight... good job I don’t have to taxi anyone anywhere

Pours inky black with a quick brown head. Nose is pleasant coffee and cream with a touch of booze and chocolate. Flavor is less potent than many IS’s, but very well balanced and drinkable. Long sticky finish.

Just about everything is right with this stout but I thought it ran a little to the heavy and overly sweet side to warrant the super high ratings.

Pours an opaque, nearly black with a short, quickly fading head. The color of the head is caramel with shades of mocha. A very nice looking beer. A shame the head dissipates so quickly. Usual dark roast malt and coffee aromas. Nothing remarkable or unique. Mouthfeel is viscous and creamy, helping the whole experience of the beer venture a little north of mediocrity. Flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, caramelized sugar, and plastic. Addendum: as the beer warms it improves. Boldness emerges and becomes much more like a Russian Imperial Stout. A bit of a sour character that seems to accentuate the experience, but I wouldn’t miss it if it weren’t there. I feel the alcohol, so it must be there. I certainly don’t taste it.

Poured into snifter. Opaque black with fizzy brown head. Aromas of piney hops, toasted malts, with light cocoa and coffee. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee, pine, and smokey oak. Creamy mouthfeel with hops and warming alcohol on the finish. A balanced beer, but I was expecting sweet not bitter. --- Cheers

Pours near black with a nice foamy tan head. Aromas of licorice, ink, black coffee, graham sweetness. Acidic coffee, molasses, baking chocolate in the flavor. I don’t say this often about breed but this needs some sweetness to round out the overly acidic character.

Very dark and complex. A lot of notes of roasty coffee bean with a hint of bitter sweet and strong after taste on the palate.

Pours a deep midnight black color with a strong cocoa and coffee aroma. Taste is rich and mature. A good Imperial Stout flavor which leaves a very complex flavor on the tongue. Heavy dark coffee and roasted flavor throughout.
