Aroma is roasty coffee and chocolate, simple, dead on for style and inviting. Pitch black with a tan head it looks exactly as it should. Taste is roasty upfront, coffee comes through next, and there is an accompanying bitterness.

Funny one this one because it reminded me of a homebrew I made. It needed 6 months aging but cost 15% of what I paid for this. That a bit unfair though. It’s the port of beers. A robust beer that was like a mad max car on idle.

2012 btl.. Looks..black, brown hue around ring, sml brow head on pour. Smells..rich malts, molasses, nuts, choc.. A little vanilla. Tastes..really smooth rich choc malts.. some cocoa and liquorice, sweet and silky mouthfeel, maybe a hint of oak or woodyness. Pretty good.

On tap at Torpedo Room. Pour has a thin creamy head, creamy feel. Cherries, coffee, chocolate and leather smell. Taste is chocolate forward, sweet aftertaste with no complexity. Strange, that.

Quite black with little head. Complex tastes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, alcohol and anise. Heavy body, good carbonation and a lasting aftertaste of sweet dark cocoa. A proper IS

4/4/16. Bottle from 8/15. Will benefit from sitting up for a while. A bit over the top in your face roasty and boozy notes. Chocolate and licorice notes. Huge potential. Just have to let it round out ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
