Bottle at Exmouth Arms Finsbury. Black beer lasting tan head. Lots of choc and coffee on aroma. Cld be fuller in the mouth. Alcohol warmth on finish. Decent. I mean its like Sierra Nevada straight down the line solid but lacks character and the choc tends towards the dry papery variety. Good choc aroma fades in mouth

Bottle. It pours a dark, dark brown body, looking clear, and topped by a dense, small, light beige head. Sweetish, bready, caramel maltyness in the aroma, with licorice hints. Some molasses and alcohol. It’s full-bodied and warming, with soft carbonation. Lasting flavor with roasted notes, molasses, bread hints and caramel. Some roasted bitterness. Hints of coffee. After a good while, the hoppy bitterness chimes in, lasting for a long time. A complex and tasteful beer well worth a revisit. 130216

Flöska. Pitch black with a medium light brown fine head leaving a good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and sweet roasted caramel with dark fruits, chocolate and light smoke along with strong alcohol fumes. Good mouthfeel, well filling. Sweet very roasted malty and caramel chocolatey flavour with licorice, dark fruits, bit smoke and plenty of alcohol in the finish. Very nice brew but the alcohol is just too dominating for me.

Pours deep black with a small, staying, creamy, brown head with good lacings. Aroma has pleasant figs, chocolate and light roasted malts. Some mild vanilla and toffee. Low carbonation, fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of dark chocolate, light roasted, nuts, vinious, plums. Lingering, warming and malty bitter finish. Very solid.
