This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

Why yes it is an Imperial Stout. Yer usual descriptors work here. Black, roasty, chocolatey, full bodied, oily, notes of vanilla and coffee. Dry, grainy, toasty with an unexpected bitterness. I,d say stash some away fer awhile and see what happens. Big Buoy! Bottle from statelineliquors.

pilsnerrogge (2772) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JAN 24, 2015
Pours black with medium head.
Aroma is roasted malt, ash, beef stock, soy sauce and some smoke.
Taste is roasted malt, ash, licorice and dark chocolate leading to a warming alcohol finish.
Pretty good, but there’s quite a few Imperial Stouts like this one out there.

Volgon (2763) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle: Pours the deepest and darkest of ruby with a medium tan head, aroma has chocolate and rich malts, starts and ends lightly sweet with a coca ending, thick mouthfeel, subtle carbonation, and should be good for years to come.

Tide (2752) - Espoo, FINLAND - APR 11, 2013
Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Black color, brown head. Roasty, salty taste with chocolate, liquorice, coffee, nuts, bread and roasted malts. Smooth body with nicely balanced hops and malts. Roasty finish with burnt coffee and liquorice. Excellent imperial stout.

Chudwick (2734) - Cincyucky, Kentucky, USA - DEC 9, 2012
12oz bottle - pours thick like dirty motor oil and a finger of creamy beige head. Decent lacing. Nose is roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate. Flavor adds coffee. Nice bitterness on the backend, similar to unsweetened dark chocolate. Light sweetness but quickly overwhelmed. Hides the ABV well. Quickly becoming a sipping beer. Though I expected more sweetness, I am glad to have tried this beer.

stravale (2723) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - FEB 16, 2013
Bottle from Tomlinson’s, Inverness [170213]
Black, medium tan head than dissipates, some lacing
Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, some dark fruits, quite boozy nose
Taste of smooth rich dark malts, liquorice, some dark bitterish cocoa, dab of dark fruit
Palate - Soft carb, full body. Palate is fairly sweet rich dark malts with alcohol. Finish is mainly of warming alcohol with dark liquorice malts, a long lingering bit metallic alcohol burn in the tail
Overall - This didn’t hide its abv - tbh it seemed the abv was even higher...good flavour in there but rather too boozy
