355ml bottle, 2012 bottling. Pours virtually pitch black, with a brown head. Compact, tarry aroma, licorice, chocolate, tobacco, mint leaves, coffee beans, leather, ashes, caramel, asphalt, roses. Off-dry, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Rich, compact, complex taste, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, eucalyptus, ashes, tar, iodine, faint smoke, caramel. This is a real monster of a stout, it will probably benefit from a few years cellaring. At the moment it is almost too immense to drink. (2013-07-19)

Draft. Deep black . Half inch thick creamy tan head. Beautiful lacing. Taste is full bodies with an old ale quality. Reminds me of the life and limb. Delicious and better IMO ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a thick light espresso head and light lacing. Smell of cocoa, espresso, some dark fruitiness, and alcohol. Taste of cocoa and coffee lead the way with more dark fruit than burnt molasses, making this not as sweet as other Imperial Stouts. Finish is a lasting char, smoke, roast and hops. Very smooth and creamy, medium body, lighter carbonation.

Bottle to snifter. Nose is dark and bitter chocolate. Pour is black with a small light brown head. Taste is dark dark chocolate to the point of almost being a harsh bitterness. Smooths out with each sip. A tad grassy so I’m guessing this is relatively highly hopped. Flavors start to come together as it warms but still seems a little out of balance. Ok but I’d like to see it with some age on it.

Multiple bottles. Black colored pour with a tan head. Smells roasted, full of chocolate, coffee, hops, citrus. Taste sweet and smooth, easy drinking, rich, and rivals alot of the better stouts. Pretty good stuff that I can find in my grocery store.

On tap at Theresa’s. A fresh, rich, roasty stout with some sweetness, dark bread, coffee, molasses, and a little hop bite. Very good! I was wondering when I would see an imperial stout from SN, and they have brewed up a good one, like I thought they would.
