4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It poured a dark black and gave the same color body. Some nice speckled, block-like lacing formed boxes around the sides of the pint glass, interesting. The smell had dry, roasty cocoa and coffee up front with a slight touch of hops in the background, and some vanilla as the beer warmed. The taste was dry and roasty between the coffee and cocoa and brought back some of that bitter hops. The finish was very dry. The palate was about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue and fairly drinkable. Overall, this is a hopped up RIS that is very good and I would come back to.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours like burnt oil, thick and dark. Aromas of rum, prune and licorice are upfront. Head is foamy and caramel colored, beautiful. First taste is warm even though beer was chilled beforehand, the high alcohol content is present but espresso coffee, amaretto and dark Mexican chocolate come through. Amazing beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger and a half of light brown head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is cocoa with coffee and roasted grains and hints of licorice. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a roasted grain and grassy hop bitterness with some alcohol and licorice notes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a nicely crafted brew that suits the style well, but a little bit thin in the body. Tasty and recommended.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours black, brown head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted malts, booze, some nut. Taste of same. The malty sweet finish comes across like a cherry skin. Bitter cocoa and herbal coffee finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I find the body a bit watery for my liking. Everything else is spot on. Big roasted notes, heavy espresso, dulcet tones of vanilla and a touch of anise. Smooth, rich but not overtly boisterous. Delicate but big and warming.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a rich black from 12oz bottle into the glass. He head is dark brown at about two fingers. The aroma is rich in caramel and chocolate forward malt. Smooth roasted coffee and dried fig follow up the heaps of chocolate and caramel. On the tasting I get rich dark chocolate with a caramel core. A long dry coffee finish is pleasantly bitter and robust adding to the full body and creamy/oily mouthfeel. The 10.2% ABV is covered up expertly. Almost Russian Imperial Stout territory.
