Pour is pretty much pitch black with a fluffy khaki head. Huge roasted malt up front on the nose, a nice hazelnut note, nice roasty coffee, dark bitter chocolate, and a noticeable earthy hoppiness. Very hoppy for an imperial stout with lots of fruity hop notes up front on the taste, then you go into a smooth milk chocolate flavor, creamy, then a hint of caramel and dark fruits, and then it ends on huge bitter roasted coffee. Great beer, I love the addition of hops to this, because it just wouldn’t be a SN beer without a nice hop presence.

Nice offering from sierra nevada. Dark brown pour with a bit of a tan head. Light malty nose. Dark roasted chocolate and coffee. Alcohol content hidden by flavor but this packs a punch. A bit to much carbonation for me. But overall quite tasty.

Not too much bitterness on the palette, neither is it too sweet. Nicely balanced. And excellent value for the price. Might just become a regular.

Bouteille (merci Patrick). Un liquide brun presque noir. Un nez de chocolat, de tabac avec une superbe amertume qui transperce. Une bouche amère de chocolat rôti, de café torréfié et de houblon. Un autre superbe produit de la part de Sierra Nevada.

Pours almost black like oil with tan head. Cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, and some caramel on the nose; follows onto the palate. Very complex, very smooth. Full bodied.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10.2% and the year it was brewed. (2013) There is a short description of the beer as well. Appearance: It has a very dark black body which is completely opaque. From the slow pour I got a tall tan colored head that settles down fairly quick but makes tons of cool lacing on the glass. Smell: The aroma has a mild character with some modest sweet and roasted maltiness. Taste / Palate: The mild aroma gives way to a big bold full bodied malty sweetness on the tongue. There are notes of caramel, toffee, molasses, and raisins. It’s 10.2% abv is noticeable but mellow and adds to its overall character. The palate feels smooth with light carbonation in this big heavy offering from Sierra Nevada. It finishes slowly with just a touch of earthy hops.
