3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I don’t know. I thought this was going to be better. It’s OK I was expecting more flavor. Kinda bland, where is the coffee, chocolate, caramel? I didn’t taste bad, just lacked a definitive flavor profile other then a %10 ABV beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Transfer from BA review on 3-5-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep-deep brown color with a one finger brown head. The head fades in over a bout a two minute time frame to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big and delicious. It is largest of a sweet caramel and chocolate aroma with nice hints of vanilla and some light pine, dark fruits and coffee smell. Also heavy in the nose is a delicious and warming aroma of a bourbon smell giving mixing with the rest to give a sweet, dark, and warming smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a strong roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee taste mixed with the lightest hints of caramel and vanilla. The caramel fades fast from the tongue while the light vanilla remains constant throughout the taste. Toward the middle the coffee flavors grow even stronger in nature and are accompanied by a light earthy and pine hop taste. The pine and earthy flavors grow slightly stronger more toward the end with the roasted flavors that are in the brew also growing more roasted in nature. This darkening and hopping of the brew give a moderately bitter bite on the tongue, and when combined with a nicely concealed, but still detectable, alcohol flavor it creates a bitter cocoa and coffee flavor to be left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is super thick and syrupy with a body that would be similar to taking maple syrup and diluting by half. The carbonation of the brew is on the very low side accentuating the thick feel of the brew. For a 10.2 % abv beer the body is much thicker then I would have expected (more akin to a 15 % brew). It is rather nice and appropriate for the darker characteristics of the brew, but is almost overwhelming due to the light level of sweetness to balance it out. Even so it is quite a feel and is overall rather nice.
Overall – A nice, big and roasty, stout that is on the drier ad thicker side. When in the mode for a great. not too sweet, sipping Imperial stout, then this is a great one to go to.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours black with full tan head. Aromas of ash, milk chocolate, and heavily roasted malts. Flavors of black coffee, alcohol, bitter nuts, and heavily roasted malt. A little too bitter and thin but still quite tasty.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33cl bottle served in a Trappist glass. Pours a black liquid with a beige head which almost immediately disappears. Aroma is strong and the taste backs this up. Huge malt flavours and dark fruits. Quite a kick of coffee with a healthy bitterness which goes some way to balance the huge flavours. A truly over the top beer which is exactly how I like them.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.355l bottle from Bierkoning. It’s almost like pouring motor oil in the glass. Really dark and black with a really good looking big lasting deep ash brown head that’s leaving some hefty lacings. Not to extreme on the nose initially, but it has a strong theme of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Some slightly charred coffee beans and a little dark fudge sweetness. Gains more momentum after a while in the glass and it’s not bad at all. It has a really thick and almost cut-through feeling in the mouth. Quite gentle on the prickling carbonation. It’s roasted in the taste alright. Lots of burned coffee and really dark butter black Belgian sugarless chocolate. Cocoa nibs with hints of burned dry wood. There is a a faint coffee acidity all the way on the back. Soft warming tail and it’s lingering burned in the mouth. A nice really ink black flavored imp stout. 30.03.2014

Bottle. Aroma sweet, milk chocolate, raisins, dark fruits, some warming alcohol. Inviting. Pitch black colour. Taste is mostly sweet, chocolate, intensely roasted, some alcohol. Decent hoppy bitter base, which reveals itself in the finish.

deep roasty complex coffee/nutty blend with some chocolate notes attached. This is a serious imperial stout that doesn’t disappoint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A beautiful black with a brown creamy head. Coffee and molasses nose. Very sweet and it hides the ABV well. Coffee and malt flavours dominate here. Palate is a little light for the style but not too bad, good carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 10.2%. Creamed coffee aroma, hint of smoke. Black colour. Small dark brown head. The flavour starts off sweet with a fruity and sweet hop note. Turns salty and roasted with a late cream note. Late alcohol bitterness along with the bitterness of roast barley. Powerful, but fairly well-balanced. Gets rather boozy when nearing the end of the bottle.
