COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nooner IPA is light in body but big in hop aroma and flavor. This session IPA delivers a dose of citrusy and grapefruit hop character from the use of whole-cone American hops. There is no better way to start a lazy afternoon than with a group of friends and a few beers. Nooner IPA is a session beer that’s light in body yet big in hop flavor. By using intense, whole-cone American hops in our Hop Torpedo we pack this small beer with a hefty hop punch.

Not my favorite from Sierra Nevada. From a bottle at Billy and Jennifers. Pours golden with a decent white head. Grass and grains on the nose. Same on taste- bit of hops. Easy to drink but somewhat boring. Light mouthfeel and refreshing in a summery way. Kept looking for more complexity/ flavour. Would rather drink less, and have the pale.

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 1 - London. Pours clear gold with a light, creamy white head. Minimalist in character, with lightly dried, biscuity pale malts, melon, grapefruit. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Low bitterness on the finish, well balanced, with ripe citrus, nectarine. Lovely. Very tasty and highly drinkable.

355 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Translucent dull amber honey colour with no yeast sediments; Half finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant and light sweet aroma of Ale malt, with strong floral, honey, pineapple, molasses, pine, light cinnamon, lemon and light grass;Light sweet taste of light Ale malt, with detectable roastyness, very light grapefruit, strong molasses notes, pine, strong resin, biscuits, spices, strong lime, strong bitter hops and sharp grass; Light body, thin but quite slick palate; Mouth feel is solid Ale malt base despite being wheat-thinned. Tastable Munich nuttiness and some dark roastyness. Grapefruit is very light, dominated by strong resin and pine, plus sharp Sterling bitterness. Good!... Hoppiness is fragrant floral, pineapple, honey, light spice and citrusy grass in nose. Low grapefruit, strong resin / pine, strong lime and grass in taste. Bitterness is very prominent, maybe a par below those of German Pils but good for a lasting, highly astringent finish; Quite dry after taste, very hoppy and resiny to mouth.

Comments: This is a good Session IPA - good 2C’s floral and tropical fruit aroma, light but solid malt base with colourful roastyness, plus good Sterling bitterness and strong Chinook resiny-pine palate. All comes without the heaviness of typical IIPA. A good one to wash down my lunch!

Transfer from BA review on 3-24-14- The last of the three new IPA’s in the new Sierra Nevada IPA sampler 12 pack. Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a light amber color with a huge head of pure white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading to leave a spider web motif of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a pine hop aroma with notes of some grass and herbal smells as well. A very light amount of a biscuit smell as well as some skunk smell (which I know is not due to age or light; as its birth date is 1/29/14 and it was keep in the dark as soon as removed from the 12-pack). A lighter level of a caramel and orange aroma are there as well, and even with the light skunk, the aroma is still OK. Taste – The taste begins as a crisp cracker and biscuit flavor with a lighter level of a caramel sweetness and a bit of grassy hop. As the taste advances the caramel seems to fade, all while other hop flavors of an earthy and pine nature come to the tongue. These tastes take the taste to its end, at which point one is left with a very crisp and dry moderately bitter hopped flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is super light in terms of its thickness with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. The very thin body with the higher carbonation are good for the session style and dry and hopped tastes of the brew, making for a very crisp session IPA. Overall – A quite crisp session IPA with an overall very dry feel. While a little more body sweetness may have made it even more easy drinking, it was decent overall.

Bottle from drink store. Dark tinted gold in colour, clear, big white head. Lovely tropical fruity nose, flavour is nice and sweet up front, pineapple notes, grapefruit bitterness toward the finish, bitter but not overdone. Light body as expected, but not too light. Nicely balanced in the finish, nice and dry. Not too sessionable at 4.8, but very good, like a lighter version of SNPA.
