Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

Large bottle 2007 edition. Pours copper with a mahogany tint and a thin white head. Aroma reveals pine, caramel, resin, some spice. Tastes of bitter peppery hops, caramel, some metallic hints. Lots of sweet perfumy hints in this one.

24 ounce bottle split in pint glass. Bright copper with lasting tan head and lotsa lace. Fresh hop aroma (duh) with some yeastiness. Fruity (golden raisin?) and hoppy flavors with the emphasis on hoppy flavor more than bitterness. Lingering hop flavor. Medium-full body with medium carbo. An absolute delight, Strong but very quaffable, and extremely enjoyable. I’ll have to save one to do a side-by-side with Celebration.

From 24 oz. bottle- As soon as the bottle was opened, the aroma of hops and slightly of pepper came forth, very nice. Appearance- copper color with an off white head. Hits the mouth with hops from the start to finish, medium body, finish a bit earthy. Very drinkable on a cold day, bit of a warming affect.

24 oz. bottle from mreusch. Pour is orange amber, clear with a one inch off white head. Aroma of resin hops, malt and a touch of pine. Taste is big, resinous hops. Bitter from start to finish. Nice earthy / orange peel after taste. Pick up on some black pepper spice. Nice and complex beer. Cheers Matt!

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2007 24oz bottle. Pours a half-finger, off-white head which lingered throughout the drinking. Great lacing on the glass. Clear golden/copper color. Aroma was of hops, but did not pick up any citrus. Taste was of wet hops and a bit soapy. Medium to thick mouthfeel. Could not taste any citrus either. Some bitterness throughout and on the aftertaste.

This is what a "wet" hop ale should be. The nose is filled with hops, and is peppery. Pours a brilliant amber with nice white head, and great lacing. The flavor is crisp and balanced almost perfectly. A true hop lovers beer.

Great spicy hop aroma. Very intense and pleasing. Amber body with a tall fluffy cloud of a head that leaves gorgeous webs of lacing on my Sam Adams glass (perfect use for it!). Flavor is a nice balance of bitter hoppiness and sweet malt with a pleasant hop finish that isn’t overpoweringly bitter. Feels thin but satisfying.

Clear golden brown with a big frothy white head. Aroma of grapefruit zest, pine needles and lemon grass. Light grassiness, restrained bitterness, but nice citrusy hop flavor. Clean crisp finish with a light woody hop bite. A very nice refreshing IPA.

Bottle. Pours a deep copper color and very clean/clear with a decent white head that left substantial lacing. Very nice hop bitterness and flavor. I sense more malt in the aroma than hops, but plenty of hop presence overall. It has a solid malt core, but the hops balance nicely so that the malt isn’t overwhelming. This is the kind of beer that a hophead can enjoy in place of over-malty Octoberfests. This is one of the better brews from Sierra Nevada.

Interesting grassy/citrus aroma. It pours a clear copper with about a finger and a half of craggy white head. Nice crisp hop flavor, with a long bitter finish. Nicely balanced.
