COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

This was outstanding. I had this at the Blind Tiger Ale House in NYC and it was great. The aroma is of fresh hops, and the taste is dominated by a nice flowery hop profile. The finish is wonderful as is this beer. Simply magnificant.

Not being a massive hop-hed myself, I don't see what the big deal is. Average in the looks department, "green" hop nose for sure. Otherwise, oily hops in the palate that tries to be way too over the top in that West Coast way.

Brilliant orange amber. Bright, citric and perfectly balanced. There's nothing else to say. Nearly perfect!

Heavy shit baby. This beer packs tons of hop and malt flavor. I wish it was available year round but due to the way they make it this would be impossible.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2008 Draft version. Boring. Brown in color with head that disappeared when I blinked. Hops and citrus nose, but not enough of either. Oh well. Original rating 2.8 Rerate the bottle version. although there’s better head retention than the draft the flavor is basicly the same. The hops are still the boring part still.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2005 Deep copper body. Wort-like aroma with subtle notes of cherries and juniper. Piney, fresh hop flavor. Nice medium body. Tastes like a wintery, piney, jacked up version of SNPA. Thanks to TannerTavernboys for sharing this and thanks to hopsrus for hand-bottling this great beer and hooking us up.

Rating #800:
Amber in colour with a dense tan head. Aroma perfectly balanced between hops and malt, favouring a perfumey hop character. Medium-bodied; Definate hop flavour balanced by malt and caramel. Aftertaste clean despite all the hops. Overasll, a good beer, but not the best APA i've ever had! I had this on draught at Siné in Arlington, Virginia on 23-November-2003.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2009 Tap @ Barclay’s (8 4 8 4 17). Dark amber color with a foamy off-white head. A wonderful aromatic hop nose with sweet berries and floral notes. Bursting with flavor, this pale ale has a hint of spice to compliment the balanced malt and hops. Bottle (6 5 6 3 16). A rich amber color with a foamy off-white head. A bread and earthy malt aroma with a fruity hop finish. Not nearly as fresh and elegant as the tap version I originally had.

Rating #300 is a special one for me. I've been searching for this beer since I've been on this site and finally found it thanks to Jeremy (jgb9348)! Full bodied, deep copper color with a nice hoppy lacing tan head. Very strong hop presence in the aroma. Strong hoppy taste! A typical Sierra Nevada hoppy brew! I really enjoyed it. Some fruit in the flavor as well. Very well balanced, and the best Pale Ale I've had. Borderline to an IPA in my opinion. A definite must have!

I could hardly believe my eyes when i saw this in Grand Forks, they can't get Bigfoot but they managed to procure this one.Brownish/red color, small head that had a decent staying power. The aroma was citrus and hops, very floral.Mildly sweet taste with a generous hop presence and citrus, grapefruit and possibly lemon, the brew turned to bitter, sweet in the middle and at the end of the tasting. The after taste was grapefruit and hops and medium bitter, very interesting brew.,and a brew that would be nice to have around more often.I guess the reall person to Thank is the lady who owns the dist.in Red Lake Falls who managed to provide this to the bar. It's nice to see a fine brew show up once in awhile, and this lady seems to be searching for those brews.
